We all start somewhere…

There is a true art to photography, yes not everyone has the eye however for those who do it is simply beautiful to see the varying perspectives of each photographer.

I have always had a love of photography – when I was younger, it was “camera and pictures” I still fondly remember my little purple 110 film camera 🙂 and over the years I fondly treasure all of the images throughout my own life and now my own family.

With my love of photography I knew there had to be more photographers in our community – from pure hobbyist to semi-pro/pro. The late Spring of 2010, the Mount Forest Photography Club was formed by another woman and I from the community.

To this day, our club has been together now for over a year and we have formally taken on the name of The Mount Forest Camera Club! We meet once a month, discuss various club business, member profiles, share our photos and discuss various tools and tutorials related to Photography.

My love of photography, although has been over the years, truly blossomed when I had our first child and bought my first DSLR – whether we are a hobbyist, semi-pro or pro we all started in the same place, we all had some reason to push us towards this form of art and I am quite proud to be a member of our Camera Club, not only to hang out with some other photographers but also to be able to share some of my own knowledge Ive learned over time!

This week we are discussing Histograms… I have planned a hands on discussion of why and when to use them 😉 Last month we discussed Aperture and had a discussion on changing it, why, when and how to choose lens based on Aperture.

Why would I, having my own photography business want be a part of a group of photographers or even assist them in their growth… One of the best things I enjoy about being a part of this club, there isnt two people in the room who have the exact same “style” or “eye for photography” as each other. Everyone shares the enjoyment and passion and yet in a room of 15 people they all have their own unique style.

I personally LOVE looking at the various photos and seeing from their artistic eye.

Do you share the same love of photography? Would you like to connect with some Photographers in our area? We are also going to be planning some photo walks and get togethers as well. Each month we share a couple of our community favourite photos and also our favourite photo from the month – photographers choice!
