The Olivia Act was started by a photographer to give back after the tragic Newtown, CT shooting. Olivia’s family had professional portraits taken right before she passed away in the shooting and will now have these beautiful memories to cherish of her forever.
I am located in Ontario, Canada and have a 6 year old child. This did not hit “close to home”, it hit extremely close to my heart…
I am going to participate in this wonderful act of generosity. I have always been one to preach about never taking too many pictures and that one day these life moments will become memories… My heart goes out to these families and I do pray that they all have many photos and videos to cherish of their sweet children.
So … do you know someone who deserves family photos? This will be a closed nomination – anonymous nominations of who you feel is deserving of winning this– anyone within my area or whoever is willing to drive to me. This will be for a mini-session and will include all edited images on a disk. Keep in mind I am a natural light photographer so the sessions will take place outdoors but can be anywhere around my location.
Email your nomination to pam @ yourlifeasartphotography . com (remove spaces) tell me who & why! This will stay open until December 31st and between myself and a few others we will choose out of those nominated who we feel truly deserves this free session! If the winner would like to be recognized, as well as their nominator I of course will do so!
In complete honesty I would love for this to become annual, this is something I have been thinking of doing for a while and after such tragedy its time, as a way to give back – photos are SO special to me, so special to my own family. Everyone should have photos to treasure because unfortunately we just never know…
