The Polar Vortex Returns…

Just when we thought we had enough snow… the polar vortex returned!

… and did it ever!!!

It all began Friday night, thankfully my sis made it home safely, however not before my dad and hubby had to pull someone out of the ditch just down the road from our house. The drifts were incredible on our road!

The drift outside of our house Saturday morning.

I seriously LOVE their love for each other. Sure they have their moments, they can fight like cats and dogs but when it truly comes down to it they truly are best buddies!!!

Hmmm how about this way looking towards the bridge on highway 6 south? This poor truck was stuck… and yes the thought did cross my mind about how much he was cursing me just standing taking a pic – sorry trucker I gotta capture my town in all kinds of weather 😉

This is the United Church. Where hubs and I got married. I detest all the hydro wires. I drove around the block a couple times trying to get THE right angle. Darn wires… you do know how to ruin a good picture!!!

I actually found myself saying to my kids (beginning of January after the major storm we had) how this is how winters were when *I* was a kid…

WHOA… Yup you know you are a parent when. Seriously though, it makes you stop and think in my children’s entire lives, the winters have always been short. This truly is the first time in a very long time where we have actually got snow for longer than a couple-few weeks. AND we still even HAVE snow. Granted its been a lot, its been a pain in the arse for many of us, its certainly kept our guys hopping at work (ok that is good – business is always good), the water levels are going to be up up up in the lakes and ponds – this is very good! We really truly have had a real Canadian small town winter! After 10 years, this winter hubby gets his closed roads and snow days – jokes on him though now that he saves the day for people in the cold rather than building and wanting a snow day to stay warm 😉

Stay safe, it doesn’t seem like old man winter is finished with us yet… perhaps he and mother nature should hook up for an early spring 😉
