Lens-Artists Challenge #380 | Around the Corner

This week Anne begins the challenge has us on photo journey, around the corner. “Have you ever gone out on a photo outing and not seen anything that would have your camera saying, “Pick me up and help me take this picture.” I have a theory that there is always something to photograph. It may not be an award-winning photo or attractive to your photographic eye; but, take the risk and find something about it that may prove worthy of your attention.” Anne

I was stumped at first with this challenge, if I had anything that was close to this, I wasn’t getting any creative boost for this. So I let myself sit with it for a bit until I felt inspiration. I didn’t feel like going into town, or even going for a drive, I was actually excited to have a home day. Then the inspiration, as dusk was on the verge of setting in, it hit me! I held myself back at first, looking outside seeing it the light was beginning to fade. I leaned in a little more. Knowing my heart needed

Grab your camera and the 50mm lens – that I haven’t used in a while…

Go outside with the dog, capture ‘around the corner’ shots around our place. The inspiration that hit was the textures, we have brick, a stone ledge and siding on our home after we customized it with a major home reno years ago. As we walked out through the garage, our dog thought we were going to see my husband in his shop.

Mom what are we doing?

I forgot how beautiful this lens is. Its a beast, however when at home this type of challenge, presented with an opportunity to put this lens to good use!

Around the corner of our garage – which we turned also added onto, to turn the entrance to the front from the side – is our covered deck, one of the best parts of our major reno. As soon as Spring weather arrives, we are on the deck and the inside living room awaits us until late fall, early winter!

Around the corner of my husbands shop is our ramp to the back yard, its incredibly handy! Its perfect for the dog to roll in the snow as well 😉

The corner of the neighbours farm across the street. I adore this fence.

Around the corner of our front door is this statue, it was my grandparents on top of a fountain, this has stuck around in our garden and Ive become fond of it.

Around the corner of our front porch is this birch decorative tree, from my sister and her husbands wedding.

I am grateful for these challenges, on a day that wasn’t as desirable to be outside, it got me outside, camera in hand with an old favourite of a lens, this was fun! It was the distraction that I needed right now, as I hold faith that the journey will soon be turning a positive corner for our loved one.

“When things are not going your way, you will start doubting yourself.
Stay positive, keep the faith, and keep moving forward – your
breakthrough may be just around the corner.”

Roy T. Bennett.
