I felt blessed to see this deer family while on the snowmobile trails this weekend. The best surprise is when I realized there were 4 of them, and not just the 2 I saw standing.
It feels so magical to me, even being a distance from them (this was zoomed in 240mm), their level of trust to not run while 5 loud machines rolled up on the trail. Grateful for this!

I’m surprised that the noise of snowmobiles didn’t startle the deer. Maybe they’ve gotten used to it.

That is my guess they are used to the machines now with regular use. Last year we went past a flock of turkeys and not one was bothered!

Thank you! I bet their eyes were on the humans 😉 Anytime I am photographing wildlife of any kind I speak to them, I know most times they cannot hear me but I just feel better voicing to them they dont need to be afraid we wont hurt them.

I think most critters hear very well and I’m convinced they respond to the tone of our voices. I too, talk to the animals all the time (shades of Dr. Dolittle?????).
