Negative Feelings

Daily writing prompt
What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

This prompt feels timely as a wonderful reminder for me. We had friends over last night for dinner who we hadn’t seen in a bit and the ladies went for a walk before dinner. The sun was shining bright, it was beautifully crisp but perfect walking weather. Something I have been wanting to do, get out and walk but hadn’t had the pull or inspiration – in full honesty, since falling last year, the beginning of the year and hitting my head and then the end of the year slipping on ice and going down on my leg – I have let fear direct me far too much.

Today, after our wonderful walk last night – even on some slippery parts of the road – I am proud of me, it was a great opportunity to catch up and the exercise felt awesome – I am off to look at hiking boots today, so that I can feel confident walking outside when its not dry weather.

The other thing I am consciously doing is ensuring I start our diffusers each morning, scent is so powerful and when I found the benefits of essential oils, my soul felt instantly aligned. Some of my favourites are citrus, especially wild orange – its my fav! Sometimes this means starting it 2-3 times a day, however its well worth it to help calm or boost.

This weekend was a great reminder for me, although I was also tackling some of my to-do list for some pertinent work things for a shift we are making, I hit some frustrations and leaning on some yoga movements, journaling, photography, red light therapy and music – are also key pieces of handling challenging negative feelings.

One other thing I use to help shift negative feelings and energy is with energy work, I personally love to work with a pendullum or simply Reiki with my hands. Our bodies can talk to us, when we allow ourselves to listen, and when we experience pain and discomfort, many times it can be our energy body is out of alignment in certain areas or more specifically chakras.
