The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.

The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot. Michael Altshuler

From myself and my family to my clients and your family, I wish you all the best during this holiday season, much health, happiness and love in the upcoming new year 2012!

Life is short, life is what you make it. As a wife and mother my photography is my own way of capturing our life and treasuring these moments we share together.

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them  ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s  Day.” Edith Lovejoy Pierce, quoted by  ThinkExist.com .

For this year, for myself I there is a very important part of me who is brand new, a part of my family which is brand new because of my personal change. A part of my life that was a challenge, yet the most inspiring challenge ever. I end this year not with any regret or wishes of what could or should have happened but what a new year will bring to me and my family. 2012 is a book that at 12 midnight we will open. Our blank pages to be filled with much love, health and happiness.

The past few years we and our family have had our share of challenges, however what has truly gotten us through them is our love and support for each other. Heading into the new year I truly have so much to be thankful for, so much to look forward to and so much to enjoy.

I am not one to make resolutions, lets face it they are just something to haunt you into bending the rules ;P However I am one to think of the amazing things that I know are going to happen this year!  The things that make me smile, my husband and our time together, our children – each of them a reflection of who we are, each of them their own amazing little personalities, each of them full of an abundance of love, joy and FUN to be had with us, our family and close friends, our pets our family would not be complete without them, my photography, our family love of boating and time at the family cottage.

Since moving to our new house, this has truly opened a new book for us and already we have begun to fill the pages with so much love and fun. I treasure looking back over the photos from our year, how not only I have changed, how my husband and children have as well, my life.

Of course not without forgetting my Photography. As I have always said, next to my family it truly is my passion. Also a passion within my family. Next to my love and time spent with my children, Photography is the greatest gift I can give them, everyday of our lives.

With all of that… I am taking a quick moment away from my family to share some of our memories over the Christmas holidays. I truly hope your Christmas and New Years is and was spent with those you love and when you look back at 2011 you can smile as you begin the next chapter of life!

More newborn photography love <3

I am feeling SO much better. Some of you know I had surgery last week… it was life changing – one of the best decisions in my life. Although Im still not 100% back to my daily life, I am well on the way. Today is the first day Ive got myself to the computer and have enjoyed any photo editing – wow did I miss it!!!

Had to share this wee one… she is just so precious. Another reason why I love Photography – she is the beginning of their family, their first child. Makes me all sentimental and sappy 😉 .

Are you stuck for a Christmas gift idea?

Christmas is approaching very fast! I don’t know about you but I am not ready yet… well I should say I am ready for what is most important – my kids! Everyone else, no not yet!

For those hard to buy for on your list or ones who you do not see very much, but still want to send them something special… you can never go wrong with 3 things – and any of these can be paired together !

Photos (or photo gifts), Food + Drinks (yes this covers booze, coffee, tea, hot chocolate).

A gift as simple as a photo of your children can really and truly go a long way! They grow and change so much, this is a gift that will without a doubt be cherished! Coffee or Tea lover… why not a mug with the kids photo on it and their favourite brew. Or simply a framed image of the kids with a bottle of wine.

But it’s less than a month away… No problem!

With a little FUN + Bribery, yes you read that right ;), you can capture some great, true to life photos of your kids! Let them have fun, whether you want to try the shots out in the snow, by the fire or tree, drinking hot chocolate, just make it fun for them AND that its ALL the kids fabulous ideas hehe!

Tomorrow our family will be putting up our tree and photos of my kids is my job (next to laying and doing not much else lol) , as typical the photographer has not figured our her family’s Christmas cards nor all of our gifts 😉

So don’t stress over that perfect gift, it truly is the little things that means the most! ❤  This is one of my strongest reasons for providing the digital images, they make amazing ‘last minute gifts’ and don’t fret if you haven’t had a session if you keep it fun, bribe the kids – hey it encourages them, and let the kids be themselves you could capture an image your family will treasure, and it just may be their best gift yet 🙂 Especially for distant relatives, why buy something just tonsay you did, when you dont even know what they need – no matter their age, an aunt/uncle to great, cousin to grandparent, they will all appreciate the thought of sending a photo of your most precious in your life and thinking of them!

Yes I love this time of year!!!

Sweet newborn baby girl || Mount Forest Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing a sweet 1 week old newborn  baby girl today!

I told mommy and daddy I would post a sneak for them and their family and friends to see 🙂

And just because she is SO darling… one more!

Capture your baby’s features

A child grows so very fast, even as parents we see them grow yet we do not really SEE them grow until we look back at photos! Capture your baby’s features when they are brand new, their tiny fingers, toes, nose, eyes, wrinkly, flakey skin, and your baby in your arms.

Photographing newborns is a great enjoyment of mine, much like Weddings, bringing a child into the world is another new beginning, perhaps the beginning of your own family, addition to your family or completion of your family.

Newborn sessions typically include photos of the baby on their own in various positions, photos with each of the parents, the parents together with the baby and also siblings with the baby, if applicable. I have dates for 2012 beginning at the end of January. If you are interested in a session please email me and advise of your due date – the actual date for the photography session of your newborn will be confirmed once your baby arrives!

2011 is going out with a CLICK!

I am quite honored and blessed to say that my first year in business is going out with… Not a “bang” … A CLICK! Or make it 4 awesome sessions to hear that gorgeous shutter click!

I will not be taking on any more sessions for 2011! However will begin booking again for the end of January!

If you are interested drop me a line I would love to discuss your photographic needs and my collections!

Newborns and young children I am able to photograph in my studio or come to your home, family sessions are available outdoors year round lifestyle in your home or favorite family place! Annnnd Weddings! They are year round with Engagement sessions included!

Stay tuned for more as the year comes to a close and I can’t wait to hear from you!

Frame vs Canvas vs Photobook

Its tough for a photographer to be able to create a package that meets ALL clients needs. Which is why my collections simply include a “print credit” so clients can choose what they would like!
Coming from a small town in Southwestern Ontario I do like to keep my business IN Canada – which is why I have not offered framing for my clients photos… Until NOW!

Watch for my upcoming post which will showcase having my clients photos from their session with my now have the option to have their prints of any size CUSTOM framed – of course to go with their CUSTOM photography!

We all start somewhere…

There is a true art to photography, yes not everyone has the eye however for those who do it is simply beautiful to see the varying perspectives of each photographer.

I have always had a love of photography – when I was younger, it was “camera and pictures” I still fondly remember my little purple 110 film camera 🙂 and over the years I fondly treasure all of the images throughout my own life and now my own family.

With my love of photography I knew there had to be more photographers in our community – from pure hobbyist to semi-pro/pro. The late Spring of 2010, the Mount Forest Photography Club was formed by another woman and I from the community.

To this day, our club has been together now for over a year and we have formally taken on the name of The Mount Forest Camera Club! We meet once a month, discuss various club business, member profiles, share our photos and discuss various tools and tutorials related to Photography.

My love of photography, although has been over the years, truly blossomed when I had our first child and bought my first DSLR – whether we are a hobbyist, semi-pro or pro we all started in the same place, we all had some reason to push us towards this form of art and I am quite proud to be a member of our Camera Club, not only to hang out with some other photographers but also to be able to share some of my own knowledge Ive learned over time!

This week we are discussing Histograms… I have planned a hands on discussion of why and when to use them 😉 Last month we discussed Aperture and had a discussion on changing it, why, when and how to choose lens based on Aperture.

Why would I, having my own photography business want be a part of a group of photographers or even assist them in their growth… One of the best things I enjoy about being a part of this club, there isnt two people in the room who have the exact same “style” or “eye for photography” as each other. Everyone shares the enjoyment and passion and yet in a room of 15 people they all have their own unique style.

I personally LOVE looking at the various photos and seeing from their artistic eye.

Do you share the same love of photography? Would you like to connect with some Photographers in our area? We are also going to be planning some photo walks and get togethers as well. Each month we share a couple of our community favourite photos and also our favourite photo from the month – photographers choice!

Yes, I am a Photographer…

… And many of my walls are still bare!

We moved 5 months ago and although I have many of my framed family photos ready to hang… I am very visual and need to plan it out – something I haven’t done yet!

I could also count on both hands my “favourite” photos of the kids… Which has been changing monthly – hey they are two of most photographed itty bitties!

Just this past week I had a custom story board printed for myself for the WOWSA event showcasing some of my newborns and weddings! Upon receiving it gave me the warm, fuzzy urge to print more, of my family, and BIG! This story board is 22×28… Yes for my family photos and fun shots of my kids I’m going BIGGER!

Then the next day I received two custom designed story boards 10×36 that I designed for a client and had printed and then float mounted… Again that warm, fuzzy feeling for my clients family, now two pieces of art to proudly display in their home!

Its the WOW factor!

Full of emotion and history…

… Its time to fill these walls!
