I updated the blog for our family Plumbing and Heating company and thought I would share it on my blog as well. This is much of my – no our (hubby works there as well) life. I work in the office with property rentals and JJ. I had the wonderful opportunity to go photograph a brand new custom built home that we just completed the Plumbing and Heating in. This home is gorgeous! So many custom features to truly make it their own. This photo I also posted on our blog over at http://www.jjmclellan.ca/blog which is our new moving billboard! This photo I captured when our technicians were over doing a retrofit for a customer who had to make the decision of repairing their old system or putting the money into a new system – bonus the heating systems not only come with warranty, for literally pennies a day more you can get a complete care warranty for parts AND labour for 10 years! Talk about peace of mind 🙂 Head on over and check it out. http://www.jjmclellan.ca/blog @jjmclellanHVAC twitter
Light in Photography
I am loving the weekly word challenge on the with.in website http://www.withinthestory.com/2012/02/24/volume-3-light-in-the-know/.
Much like the theme our Camera Club goes with as well – last month it was Heart and this month it is Time. Awesome because everyone has a different feel, perspective and thought process on how to capture the theme word.
“Light makes photography.
Embrace light.
Admire it.
Love it.
But above all,
know light.
Know it for all you are worth,
and you will know the key to photography. “
– George Eastman

This photo I took of the kids one morning before leaving for work, it was SO nice out, the light just pulled us outside, this is my favourite type of light to photograph in ❤

One of my favourite places to photograph is the cottage on the beach… Carson captured this for us with lil lady watching over lol

Some overcast Winter light… 1st snowfall November 2011

The last one’s I took last night, specifically to use natural light and push my ISO as it was into the evening. Kids eating their suckers from Dominican!

Count your blessings
We got a phone call at work yesterday morning that I answered, and its unfortunate but 9 times out of 10 when this person calls its because someone died and they require our backhoe services.
Which got me thinking. When was the last time you counted YOUR blessings. When was the last time you were thankful for everything you have in your life. I know various things remind me everyday, for example when I go to walk down our hall way and just before entering the hall is a photo of my mother in law, who passed away 2 months before our wedding. Or last week on February 16th, which would have been my Granpa and Carl’s birthday, both of whom we lost in 2005. Then continuing down our hall and seeing the photos over the years of our family, our wedding photo and into our bedroom with photos from our wedding. In January it marked 22 years since we lost Granpa Hap, and I am thankful for the photos we have which remind me of our time with him.
Its so easy though to focus on negative things, or feel sorry for yourself when ONE thing is going wrong, and in the big picture its really nothing at all. My biggest blessings are my kids and husband, my family.

Every day I am so thankful for what we do have, not only material things, those can or could be replaced at any time, but the relationship we have, the love we have and the time together we spend enjoying our life. The puppy that we have that at times he can give us a headache of a chewing spree but we couldn’t imagine our family without him. I love watching the kids with him, how they love him up and even how Jaz cuddles up with him on the couch. He looks at you like he actually knows what you are saying and has such an unbelievable unconditional love for all of us.
There will always be time life thows us a hard ball, but always keep the future in sight. Its not what is given to is to deal, its how we deal!
I’ll be sharing more “light” photos today to end off this week of with.in 🙂 Perhaps with more snow on the ground I’ll be able to get the kids and dog outside to wear off some energy 🙂 Annnnd capture some more light photos!
Anyway
I am happy to say my week is ending on a very good – no much better note. Not that I had a bad week but my body did and when my body isn’t up to par, I am not (ironic how that happens haha).
After cooking a few amazing meals this week, spending time cleaning and decluttering (yes this can be a stress reliever for me – I hate cluttered space), and enjoying time with the Camera Club last night and of course time with the family.
I am looking forward to time with the hubby and kids this weekend and of course lil sis tonight!!! Im hoping for nice weather to get outside and get some photos… I am just itching for spring to come to get outside photographing! Perhaps if we get some snow the kids and dog can get outside to play without being in muck!
Here’s a fun quote for today I enjoyed reading… the other day I read a post from someone about how YOU define success… for me its easy – FAMILY & HAPPINESS! Sure we will all have off days or moments, but when it really comes down to it, I am who I am because of my family. ❤
The High Road
The high road may be a lonely place at times, but its a far better life to live.

I happened upon a photographer colleague’s post on Facebook and very relative to my post last night, this saying up above really hit home. Its so true in many aspects of life. What she also had in this post was the you tube video to Colbie Caillat – Think Good Thoughts. Awesome lyrics! Also very relative to what I posted yesterday.
I received an awesome compliment from my husband last night, after he read my blog post that I wrote (last night), he said to me :
“Your Photography goes so much deeper than just taking pictures,
they hold so much meaning”
If anyone knows my husband, he’s actually very much like my dad haha, he isn’t a fan of having his photo taken, but he knows how much it means to me (and our kids) so he is obliging 😉 Hearing him say this meant the world to me, he knows my passion for photography truly blossomed when our first child was born, when we truly became a family. So this just truly warmed my heart.

Colbie Caillat – Think Good Thoughts
I’m just gonna say it,
There’s no using in delaying,
I’m tired of the angry hanging out inside me,
So I’ll quiet down the devil,
I’m gonna knock him with a shovel,
And I’ll burry all my troubles underneath the rubble
When I’m alone in my dark dark room,
I have to tell myself to,
Think good thoughts,
Think good thoughts,
Imagine what the world would be if we would just,
Think good thoughts,
Stop the bad from feeding,
I won’t let the negativity turn me into my enemy,
Promise to myself that I won’t let it get the best of me,
That’s how I want to be
Na, na, na, na
I’m not saying that it’s easy,
Especially when I’m moody,
I might be cursing like a sailor till I remind myself I’m better,
Cause words can be like weapons,
Oh and you use them, you regret them,
Oh but I’m not gonna let them take away my heaven
And when I start feeling blue,
I remember to tell myself to,
Think good thoughts,
Think good thoughts,
Imagine what the world would be if we would just,
Think good thoughts,
Stop the bad from feeding,
I won’t let the negativity turn me into my enemy,
Promise to myself that I won’t let it get the best of me,
That’s how I want to be
I just think rain on a summer night,
Stars filling up the sky,
Sun shining on my face,
Making a secret wish,
Finding my happiness,
That always makes me hold my head up high,
I wanna hold my head up high,
I wanna think good thoughts (Imagine what the world would be if we would just think good thoughts)
I wanna think good thoughts (wouldn’t that be something?)
I won’t let the negativity turn me into my enemy,
Promise to myself that I won’t let it get the best of me,
That’s how I want to be
Na, na, na, na

And… going in theme from with.in, “Light” this is my favourite kind of light… the warmth of the fall sunshine with the gorgeous trees and grass leading up the winding path… much like…
Life, the path of many possibities and the sun & moon as light to guide our way!
You get what you give
I may sure everyone has had one person or more lol who we have all said to ourselves… Karma will get them. I read an awesome quote on Pinterest tonight…
It’s about love,
It’s about compassion
It’s about kindness
And faith
It has nothing to do
With luck
You get what you give
So give good
Then of course there was the next one
I hope karma slaps you in the face before I do.
Haha! SO true. It’s really sad how self centred some people are solely thinking of themselves. Not their spouse, their kids, their family and completely taking advantage of others making them think they also matter. Sad. The best karma quote though and it’s so true…
How people treat you is their karma
How you react is yours…
Think deeply about that and the toughest situation you have ever been in and how YOU chose to react.
You truly do get what you give!
Much like the bridge in this photo, which seems so insanely big in comparison to the boat underneath it, much like many of lifes problems or issues some of them may actually seem much larger than they actually are. Something that we may have thought we could never handle becomes how we do handle. ❤ And eventually those people who were actually negative forces in our life will be weeded out and the ones we are truly meant to spend our time with are the focus. Sometimes these adjustments are hard, other times these adjustments are exactly what was meant to be and just needed the push to disconnect.
Call it the fear of the unknown, many times it is, many times there is regret, regret of the connection, regret of not ending the negative force sooner but in the end life’s path takes us to where we truly need to be, where we have always wanted to be and things become right again, but better.
God truly does not give us more in our life than we are not capable of handling, capable of learning and growing from. At the time this may be difficult to see or understand but it all flows into place. Everyone comes into and goes out of our life for a reason, some good and some bad, all in all its something we grow from and in the end will better our life, if we allow it.
Puppy Relaxed Light
Quick one for tonight of our oil man from the weekend relaxing on the couch watching his people play wii lol. Natural light at f1.2 with my 50mm lens.
Warm Morning Sunrise
This photo I captured shortly after moving to our new house. Truly a natural light photographer’s dream I love how blessed we are to not only see these gorgeous sun rises but also the amazing sunsets!
Summer Evening Light
I captured this from our back yard last year when I was sitting on our deck. Love! Such a warm beautiful sunset 🙂
Light
This week the word for with.in is Light. I love this as I am a natural light photographer. The word light can be taken in some many more ways than just the light we see. Being a wife and mother there are plenty of moments where “I see the light” both of which being jobs in themselves. Or at work working on a dry subject such as health and safety, very important part of the business but not very interesting, getting into the end where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel is relief.
Warm light, cool light – many who know me know I prefer the warm light. Moody light and tones with my black and white images really give the photo a true feeling, even with the grain – many of my black and white photos are processed like this because I push my ISO to photograph in natural light.
What I love the most is the way my kids, our kids light up our life! This winter I have been using my camera more without the flash, I’m not a flash fan, as I said I am all about natural light. Most likely why I am so excited about this theme, I have so many photos of mine on my flickr page that are all natural light and of varying times, dates, seasons from bright morning sunshine, grey overcast afternoon to evening sunsets.
For me “light” holds so much, light is what makes me the photographer that I am. And being a photographer, even if most times its a mom-tographer is what captures our family’s most amazing moments, which make our children’s faces light up as if it were the exact day it was captured!
I will have lots of photos to share annnnnd gives me more to work forward with this week 😉
Happy capturing 😉 Pam
