Family fun photographs in the snow! Living in small town Mount Forest we’ve always been lucky to get some decent snow hills for tobogganing. Being a photographer from small town Mount Forest I can not only walk through 2-3′ feet of snow with my camera equipment… but also carrying a toddler to a better location where the snow isn’t as deep or better for tobogganing and thus photographing them ;)
Here are some examples of the Baby Announcements I am now including with all of my Newborn Photography Sessions ! These are just a select few of the little girl announcements.
Today my family and I went to meet these beautiful baby chocolate labs – was an added bonus that there was also some baby goldens right beside them! My kids were very unsure of these tiny little creatures at first but eventually warmed up!
After the big storm yesterday it was so refreshing to see the warm sunshine today. Although it was still cold out… feeling the warmth of the sun got me very excited for some Spring Photography – Maternity, Newborn, Children, Couples and Family!
I will only be available for a limited number of sessions per month – evening sessions will be available as the warmer weather embraces us. During the summer, early morning photography sessions along with evening photography sessions are beautiful with the early and evening soft light.
My photography sessions will be on location – with the exception of newborn photography, if you do not have a well lit area in your home I have space available for photographing newborns & children up to the age of 1 yr (max) indoors – all other sessions must be outdoors or within your own home – which brings out the true “style” in Lifestyle Photography!
A limited number of winter photography sessions are available, however I am more than happy to wait until spring for some sunshine and green grass ;) I am always available for maternity and newborn sessions – just drop me a line to advise of your due date. It is best to photograph maternity photos during the last 5 weeks of your pregnancy. Please do not leave booking your maternity session until the end of your pregnancy – just.in.case!

Well I wondered if the weather man was actually going to be right – nothing against them of course, however it was pretty calm… then yes early morning the storm hit! I missed the thunder, but the wind – WOW!
I held the kids off from going outside until 4pm… at exactly 350pm little man Cars began getting his stuff on, seriously how did he know what time it was lol. I wont complain they were great today, I was able to get some work done and they enjoyed having a lazy day :) All in all good day!
So when we went outside I of course had to bring my camera out for a bit… then joined in with the kids climbing up the snow hills and shoveled the walk. But man oh man was it COLD! After being out for half and hour I was sooo ready to come in – good thing is they were too ;)

I cannot wait for the nicer weather, during the late spring, summer, fall we pretty much live outside and one of my fav reasons is its fun! Next to that of course is my photography – I love love love shooting wide open. So today when the kids were just itching to get outside, I completely embraced playing around with my 50L outside in the winter and capturing the amazing bokeh that you truly CAN capture even in the dead of winter.
~Side note~ I am now including CUSTOM Birth Announcements with all my Newborn Photography! I will be posting some examples very soon (the parents from my January 2011 sessions just saw their annoucements!).
My son truly is awesome… I asked him late this morning if he wanted to go outside right then or wait until daddy got home and go out later in the afternoon. His response to me was that we had to wait for daddy because if it was just mommy who would take pictures!?
As funny as that statement is… yes I did completely LOL when he said that – but it also warmed my heart… my son already has an appreciation for the photos I capture of them – we do look back on photos together all the time and he continuously says “OH remember that mommy” – THATS what its all about… Even as an adult now with my own family I still LOVE looking back on our family photos of when I was a child. Its all about the memories and while capturing those memories – LIVING them!
(I also got out of shoveling hehe!).
If you only knew how long it took me to get some shots of this miss looking at me… it took a LOT of work lol. Im sure if any of our neighbours were watching they were laughing at me! Right after I took this the shovel went up in front of her face and I was ‘told’ ‘ok mommy NO more pictures’ lol she was slightly over tired hehe. But oh so cute in her hat (which she just got from her cousins – yea hand-me-downs!).
Ah and my love… the BIGGEST kid of them all… he had to make the sledding track better for the kids hehe. Love you!
