Lens-Artists Challenge #408 | Over the Top

I love the weekly challenges from this group, it really has given me something creative to look forward to each week even if I may not have the inspiration.

Last weekend we had a weekend away with another couple at our family cottage, it was exactly what I needed. Coming home to an unwell loved one, who had declined was quite challenging at the end of the weekend. As much as I love photography, when my world feels like its being rocked, its hard to allow myself to free my mind creatively.

Egidio began the challenge on Saturday, Over the Top – some fantastic examples of “over the top” churches, some jewelry, boats and cars!

I was puzzled at first of how to tackle this challenge and then… I saw it. This view.

Before our friends were arriving, my husband and I were traveling to the local market, Hi-Berry Farms, that is in between Port Elgin and Southampton – they have the best produce! It was warm and overcast so we decided to drive along the water for as far as we could, versus driving through town. This view reminded me of both Eastern Canada and when we were in Tobermory in June. The view from over the top of the road, looking down. With the green and pops of colour of nature, the various shades of the rocks, the water and the sky!

We stopped in at the Harbour when touring and there were a couple quite large boats there – one was 65 feet long and one 50 feet. In my current life situation, this is definitely something that would be far outside of my reality, so one may consider this over the top – or perhaps a dream?

The 50′ behind the larger boat on the right, looks tiny in comparision, its only 15 feet shorter!

The break-wall at the harbour has been a childhood favourite for me. Love the view looking over the top of the rocks and horizon, the clouds are incredible, the island in the far distance.

Just over the top of the break-wall is the horizon. Almost pointing in the direction of our family cottage too!

Over the top of the hill, were these beautiful flowers.

I love how the angle lined up that the island is over top of the bike path.
