Lens-Artists Challenge | Harmony in Nature

This weeks challenge is introduced by Ann-Christine, she has revived a previous post from Tina’s challenge #44 – Harmony! She provides some beautiful examples of when she was in Greenland. Images of the sky, clouds, water and land, the rocks. All so harmonious!

Reading through Ann-Christine’s explanation I thought of the image I shared earlier today. One that is near and dear to my heart, a perfectly timed one that couldn’t have been perfectly timed, if not for divinity! You can see that image here.

Personally, harmony in photography for me, is finding that bridge, the connection of your life as art – to live and embrace. I asked google this question, of harmony and your life as art and was intrigued at the response.

“In traditional art theory, harmony is the agreement of individual parts to create a unified, pleasing whole. When applied to your specific brand, harmony takes on three distinct layers:

  1. The Art Layer: Visual Cohesion – How light, colour, geometry, and space interact. Colour & Tone. Composition.
  2. The Human Layer: Authenticity Meets Elegance – “Your Life As Art” implies elevating everyday moments without stripping them of their soul. Harmony here is the balance between truth and beauty. Order in Chaos. Capturing genuine emotion in a way that feels timeless and artful.
  3. The Client Experience Layer: Trust & Presence.
This layer does not currently apply to me, as I am not accepting clients. Trust and Presence are the backbone ultimately – in life and even in our hobbies. Our hobbies help define us and our ‘harmony’ within our life.

For me, going on a nature walk by myself with my camera is blissful harmony, for others they may find this absolutely boring and that’s ok! Harmony is the moment when real life meets fine art. Where genuine, authentic emotion, natural light and the moment lines up in a single frame. Rather than staging life into something artificial, finding the natural art, balance and poetic words that are already there.

Ann-Christine has encouraged us to share 7 images to demonstrate what Harmony is in our own photography!

This macro image of dew drops on the grass brings me the harmony feeling. The colours, the bokeh and layers within the image. Looking at it feels relaxing and harmonious to me. An image that could be in a massage studio.

The harmonious colours of nature, the way everything blends and fits together. Macro photography has an incredible ability to amplify the harmonious feeling.

Riding through the bush on the snowmobile trails in winter for me is tranquil, peaceful and harmonious! Especially with the beautiful blanket of snow on the tree branches.

A sunrise on the beach, will always give me a beautifully warm harmonious feeling. With the soft golden light, warm colour over the water and sand.

The various rocks in the sand on the beach are so unique, calming and have their own harmonious frequency.

As well as shells in the sand. This was taken with my macro lens and I love the detail in the tiny grains of sand, the various colours in the shells and the sand and the softness of the shell edges.

I hope you enjoyed my contribution to this weeks Lens-Artists Challenge – Harmony! This was fun to share some more of my favourite images, some from back in 2013! Photography, memories, truly are timeless!

Thank you Ann-Christine for a wonderful challenge!
