Yesterday, marked another anniversary in our life. In the past, its been a strong reminder of all the shit that’s been thrown at us and the battles fought.
This post will not be that. This post is the pitch that I finally feel has arrived to shift me from so much negative doom and gloom. I had never thought of this word in this way, however it truly it pitching into my next level of life, similar to a baseball pitch, going high up into the sky, is the visual I am seeing. Vs a low pitch, down along the ground, unable to reach those high levels.
Nothing significant has changed, outside of me. I however, have gotten stronger. To find and feel the trust within me. Knowing that this path, as fucked up as its been, is mine to navigate.
We’ve faced the world being shut down, raising children, working full time among family connections breaking, fear, worry, tragedy, illness, death, mental health, unexpected loss, grief, multiple surgeries – with multiple people, auto-immune disease, cancer, relationship breakdown, uncertainty and so many unknowns.
Among all of that, the pitch that blasted us off towards the stars.
We have become stronger.
As a couple especially. Our relationship began over 25 years ago with various outside factors that always had something going on that led our attention outside of ourselves, our relationship, our family, our home. We are now closer than we ever have been, which for me is much more the value of any depth of gold.
We have grown.
Its been alot for all of us, us and our kids, these past 6 years, without a doubt. There were many times I just wanted to escape or have someone who could understand. The more you talk, the more these shitty times in life, become normal to talk about, healing can happen – together. Versus apart. When busy in life its easy to lean on that resistance which eventually separates, that became a non-negotiable for us. We need to grow together AND also grow apart – its key. As people who live and work together, I am so very proud of us of how much we have grown. Especially as an example for our kids. Life isn’t easy, but it can feel easier when aligned with the right person.
We have learned to love each other stronger and above all else.
Loving each other after a significant accident and multiple tragic events happening,
The pitch I never knew I needed, to catapult me to where I need to be, even without knowing.
Especially this season, where there is more darkness, yesterday morning was dark… however last night we committed to just hanging out together at home, making some good food and relaxing, being in bed at the same time we normally are during the week, was glorious and a reset we needed to begin the weekend!
