When I read this challenge yesterday, I knew I would need some time to figure out the direction of my post, this morning it fell into my heart.
Tina invited us to share from our heart, photography and memories. This will mean something different for each person, I have so many memories with my photograph’s, these, are my most favourite ones!
“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.”
~Dorothea Lange
Our homes… with our children and our pets!
I can look at a photo and my heart knows when it was from, my memories instantly take me back to that time. This truly is why I chose my website name, Your Life As Art. For me, these lifetime memories are the most precious art in my life.
Our first home where our son was born, our first home together, where we became husband and wife, we survived our first year married which included multiple deaths, buying our first home and getting married, as we began our infertility journey. Blessed with our son, who began our family. Taken with my first DSLR the Canon Rebel XTi – I loved it! Toddler by my side, baby in my belly and camera in my hand!
Our second home, one I can admit we made a haste decision in its purchase, however it did suit our needs at the time. In theory a 3 storey home is a great idea, bedrooms on the top, main floor for the kitchen, living room etc and the walkout basement as a family and playroom for the kids. We quickly learned, we did not enjoy that many stairs, among a few other challenges. We made it work for us, until we had a strong itch for a bit more property.
Our first dog, was mine before we all became a family, when the kids arrived he was proud to watch over them. We had a sunken room off the kitchen that was many things, the most useful, was a play room for the kids. He would lay at the top of the stairs watching them.
The nightly routine, taking the kids up to bed.
2.5 years later…
Our forever home, has felt right since we first walked in and saw its incredible potential! We are home…
Our new place, we were here a few days when our boy Elwood crossed he rainbow bridge, he waited for his family to be settled and then it was his time. Recently, my husband had mentioned that our Elwood, our black lab, had lived at all 3 homes with us… he did. He knew his family was in the place they needed to be. We’ve been settled – alas sometimes through reno’s, ever since ;)
A couple months later, the kids began making memories with this pup, Becker, who all grew together for the next 13 years.
From a small yard on a hill to a much bigger yard for the kids and dog to run freely!
My biggest desire to move was so our kids could have more space to be kids… it was this move that was the biggest move of our life. 2011 was the year so much changed, after it had previously. Except this time, we felt we were at home. All of us, although the home has completely changed now, this home showed us the potential of what life had to offer. We just had to see it – in so many ways!
With our current dog, Gunner, when we got him a couple years ago.
These little one’s are now 14 years older… life is completely different, and yet a piece of my mind, will always be with these ‘little ones’ <3
We are quite happy in our space here, the home has completely transformed but the memories are solid.
