Now more than ever, its so important that everyone take a proactive approach to their own health. Our health care system is wonderful when needed, however it shouldn’t be the backbone to anyone’s personal health care – we as individuals should be.
Tis the season for runny or stuffed up noses, irritated throats, headaches, body aches, which come with the cold, damp weather.
From what I have learned in my own life, the more natural options one can choose, the better off their health will be when toxins, endocrine disruptors, chemicals etc are removed. These cause real, and sometimes detrimental health side effects. Have you ever watched those commericals on tv… this drug will help with x, y, z but “may” cause…
If you are interested in natural health – check it out! I highly recommend!
The weekends and evenings were when I scrolled the most, almost as if escaping reality at times, thinking of all I needed to do, still scrolling and then feeling flooded with anxiety of not getting anything done or being flooded with negativity from the online “warriors”.
I’ve picked up my camera more. Im almost done my book I’ve been reading (and implementing steps to shift my life). I’ve prioritized ME time each morning. Our house is more tidied and organized with each day. Being selective in what and who I allow into my life.
Choosing to live in stress means – feeling overwhelmed; wake up feeling rushed; often wish you were doing something else; pressing for time or show up late; body feels heavy and sluggish in the morning; feel trapped in life or body; want to make changes but it feels difficult; wired but tired brain; depressed people in your life.
Choosing to live in Ease means – wake up in joy; work hard and give life your all, live life on purpose with time for reflection and course correction; inspired by people in your life, spend time daily in silence, inquiry or quiet reflection; others experience you as grounded, interesting and inspiring; relationships are deeply honest, in integrity, intimate and future oriented; lead when a situation calls for leadership; often find yourself tapped into a timeless, spacious experience, both when alone and when with loved ones.
Listening to Joel Osteen podcast, “Letting Go of Control”, reminded me the importance of believing. To have faith, always. That life happens, it’s important to release the need of having to know all the details or try to control the outcome. To spend time in peace, to be at rest and trust. When we release the need to control, we also release any fear and worry.
I have noticed that being off scrolling social media, not “needing to know” what anyone else is doing, speaking about, or others energy being projected, has drastically shifted my life.
Sarah Prout, said it beautifully in her podcast, “Kim Kardashian shared my Dear Universe Affirmation”. Honeatly I was reluctant to listen to it, I am by far not a “celebrity” fan girl, at all so seeing the title instantly pushed me off. However something in me said, give it a chance. What stood out for me, was this statement, “When people are mean it’s a projection of the disowned parts of themselves.” Sarah Prout.
Life offline, has been awesome. I think of all the time wasted, and some on people that in the big picture of things, doesn’t matter. Perhaps harsh, but now in these times our own individual mental health is our utmost important thing to focus on, as I’d we let our mental health slide, our physical health will also be affected.
If you haven’t taken a “break” from social media in a while, or even ever… I highly recommend! This quote below, I read in my CIM Magazine. Its so true, its within our own control, power to take care of our own energy and then help those around us to do the same. <3
I added a twist to my energy ball recipe this weekend. They are SO good and remind me of magic bars!!!
Bowl 1
Approx 1 ½ cup natural peanut butter
½ cup cold pressed coconut oil
¼ cup honey
Blend together well until smooth
Bowl 2
Mix in ¾ cup ground flax meal
2 TBSP Hemp Seeds
2 TBSP Chia Seeds
Handful of walnuts chopped
2 ½ cups of GF Oats
½ chocolate chips
Once the peanut butter mixture is smooth and well mixed, stir up the dry I ingredients bowl well. Then slowly begin adding the dry ingredients to the wet and mix well.
I put the bowl in the fridge to help harden the peanut butter so it was easier to form and stay together. Once complete store in the fridge or freezer in an air tight container.
A few years ago I signed up with a monthly meditation coach. The meditations were beautiful, she is woman who is compassionate and passionate in what she does.
I fell into the trap of “what is trendy”. I cancelled my monthly subscription to “follow” a world wide well know meditation “guru” with hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
My heart, felt a piece was missing. This “guru”, didn’t always seem authentic and something pulled on me. But, this well known person supposedly “knows what to do”, hundreds of thousands of people “follow” her. Someone who has publically talked about their trials and tribulations and built their guru career based on it. But, It didn’t feel genuine, to me. It’s hard to create a routine that doesn’t feel genuine, and feel inspired to do it everyday. I cancelled this as well. Because I value the money I spend.
I worried that I would never become a morning person, that I’m a “night hawk” and that is who I am. I cannot change that.
But I can, and I am!
I enjoy how refreshed I feel in the morning. How calm my mind is when I get up and get out of bed. How productive I feel the entire day, by prioritizing ME first!
The first meditation coach, truly is remarkable. For a small, affordable, monthly investment, she creates meditations each month as well as hosts an inspiration call for everyone to join at the beginning of that month to explain why she chose this theme and to offer her support as a knowledgable and experienced meditation coach.
With all that 2020 has brought, I have felt challenged to shift my life to honor the morning routine I have been visualizing, for a while now.
Getting up before the rest of the house, carving out time for me, to do whatever my heart desires before the world wakes up. All feeling a true ease and grace within the start of the day!
Angela is not only an awesome meditation coach, she means what she says. During the call the other night, which I am so grateful I listened to, Angela offered her one on one support, she asked those on the call if there was anything feeling heavy for each of us. The call also talked about the importance of clearing our emotions from our body, trapped emotions can cause physical pain.
I reached out to Angela. The past 3 weeks have felt challenging, among many other “obscatacles” this year. We chatted and Angela asked me what I was wanting to get out of the call. I was honest and said I need inspiration, I felt stuck. Angela inspired me to a 30 day meditation challenge with myself! We had a wonderful chat!
4 days in and I am LOVING IT! Waking naturally, before my alarm even. Meditating, drinking 2 bottles of water, 1 when I first wake and 1 after meditating. My hot turmeric tea. Journaling in my DailyGreatness planner (its life changing honestly) and my journal, reading from my daily inspiration for empaths and anything else I feel inspired to pull out that morning. Most of all, feeling the ease, the natural flow. Starting the diffuser while my tea is being made.
I’ve felt truly aligned with me, us, our home. All while still enjoying my time off social media, to focus on real life. Which has felt really good. To release any fears, worry, negativity and welcome in grace, ease, health, happiness, abundance, love, fun in all that I do. Bringing the focus back to the core of what and who really matters. I am grateful for Angela and her inspiration, to continue with Symphony of the Minds into 2021.
The year has been interesting, to say the least. There has been moments of turmoil, happiness, excitement, pain, love, quiet…
Sometimes it’s easy to fall into the negative energy of whatever may be happening.
And then there is this,
Pure natural beauty!
This incredible view from the shop tonight as I was leaving work.
Today, I felt a shift.
Last night, I listened in on my meditation coach’s monthly call. During this call she tells us her inspiration behind that months meditation theme. Angela also asks us how we are doing, each of us, are open to briefly talk then about anything on our heart, or she extends an offer for us to contact her for a one on one call.
This months meditation, “All Is Well”, began in October with an 11 minute meditation to deepen our connection to our emotions, some of which have been buried for years. Repressed emotions can also contribute physical pain. I’ve learned this from a favoitite book by Louise Hay – You Can Heal Your Life.
As I listened to the monthly call, I could feel my shoulders loosening. As I focused on my breathing, slowing down my mind, focusing on what was within my control, refocusing on smaller chunks vs the big picture.
The Universal Signs that yes, everything happens for a reason. Something’s are to challenge us, to strengthen! Find the pivot, where the peace lies.
The past couple weeks have been filled with almost every emotion I could possibly feel. Along with physically adjusting to support my husband.
I am so incredibly grateful he is here with us healing. Getting stronger every single day.
To say it’s been easy, would be a straight up lie. It’s easy to be home more, especially when we love it so much. It’s not easy for my man who has been unable to do almost everything he did before, including driving and then me stepping into the role of both parents for the kids and the household.
The weekend after his accident, home with the kids while he was in the hospital was challenging. I found myself avoiding what I “should” do and pulling back from “real life” and getting sucked into wasting time on social media.
Early this week, I finally listened to that beautiful voice in my head, Tuesday morning during my shower, to step back and off social media. To be honest, at this time in our life, what others are doing and the opinions of others on whatever topic, does not matter at all. What truly matters is within the walls of our home and workplace.
Social media has been a blessing to be in touch and see what people are doing as they post photos etc. But that is not real life, that is not truly being present in someone’s life. The internet has been very helpful, just in my own lifetime. However, it’s also sadly, shifted people from being patient, grateful and at peace to wanting and needing something now, judgment of others, and most of all wasting a lot of time!
The past week I have felt the most at peace I have in a very long time. Focusing 100% on our real life, Just Living! Focusing on us, our home, our work has been refreshing. I think back to before social media, when I blogged more and shared my photos on the Flickr platform, which let me be honest the quality far succeeds the quality on social 😉!
Sunset over the Saugeen River on Halloween Night 2020
Real life for me, is taking photos, because I see the beauty, I appreciate my artistic creative eye, not just to post and share with people who may or may not actually BE in our present life. Sharing my creative eye and allowing my words to flow on my own platform of my blog and website. Also as an example to my children, in our business we are on the phone a lot with co-workers and customers, being aware of this to be a positive example to the kids, is very important to me. Not just, “do as I say, not as I do”. Real life is being IN the moment, without feeling the need to share any images or words. Being true to myself, listening to my soul and being in alignment with real life with true gratitude. ✌
In my life I have experienced many different surgeries, over a span of approx 12 years. One of my surgeries I had, was during a very challenging time in my life and our marriage. There has been a lot of healing not only for my own physical health with those surgeries, emotional health but also our relationship is the strongest its ever been, thankfully.
A little over a week ago, we were thrown a curveball in life. My husband, best friend, co-parent, co-worker had an accident. I am so unbelievably thankful he is “ok”. I feel like I felt every emotion that I could on that day, first receiving the phone call, then literally fighting to see my husband at the hospital, to getting conflicting information (both he and I) at the city hospital and then finally being able to see him when I picked him up 4 days later…
Emotionally I was spent, completely. Sunday, I can admit I barely functioned and was quite content sitting on the couch or in bed. After being told one thing and then another, my emotions got the best of me and I completely felt triggered. Back to that very challenging time during my life and our marriage. A time when we weren’t sure if we would make it or not and I had just come home from the hospital from one of my surgeries. This trigger on top of the emotions I felt that day my husband fell, as I waited literally for over 4 hours in the hall of the hospital pleading with the doctors and nurses to just be able to SEE my husband, to see for myself and know he is going to be ok. This happened just a few weeks from the “anniversary” of 12 yrs ago when my brother fell and was in critical condition in the hospital for a while. A time when we as a family could thankfully gather to support each other, not just at home but also at the city hospital.
The reality of health care during covid is isolation, loneliness and very little compassion, especially towards the loved ones. Yes my husband is an adult, an adult who had an accident and was drugged up for pain in the hospital not allowed to see anyone.
Remember when we used to walk into the doctors office and there was a sign that as a patient its your right to have someone with you at an appointment. Yup that right no longer exists as a patient or a loved one/spouse. Could you even begin to imagine if this was a senior with dementia or Alzheimer’s!? How is this fair!?
I literally pleaded with the doctors and nurses, was told I had to wait in the hall I was not allowed in the emergency room or in his room because of these protocols. If he was under 18, I would have been allowed. The emergency room was not busy whatsoever. So there I sat in the hall “waiting room” of our local hospital in tears for hours. Finally able to communicate with my husband after the sedation wore off via our cell phones. After over 4 hours the doctor came out again to update me, this time he said he “negotiated with the nurses to get me 15 minutes with him before he was sent to Guelph for surgery”. I didn’t hesitate jumping up and running in to see him. Being able to see him, touch him and instantly began sharing Reiki energy on his neck and chest. Sadly, I felt little respect as a spouse/loved one, any quesitons I asked to the nurse were ignored and directed to my husband, until I finally said ok so if he is being transported down the same transportation will bring him back then, that’s when the nurse finally looked at me and said “oh no you will have to pick him up when he is released, but you are not able to go down until then”. I prompted to get him out of his work clothes, something they were not going to do, why keep someone in clothing that would be uncomfortable especially when he would be heading to a bigger hospital for surgery.
Is this really the future of our healthcare system!? Someone has an emergency/accident and their spouse is disrespected and ignored like this?! Yes he received care, yes that’s priority, however every single person deserves to have a loved one with them for medical care. Everyone, no matter their age or what happened and for the love of god, especially in a situation like this.
When someone becomes more in tune with their energy, they are more easily able to recognize, feel and shift.
This Emotional Guidance Scale illustrates the upward and downward spiral our we can experience with our feelings and emotions. Think of HOW you feel at each level. Now think of HOW you would physically feel if you lived consistently at each level.
One reason I chose to introduce essential oils into our home life and health was because of their high energy frequency. Everything is energy.
The higher vibration we are living in, the healthier and happier we will be. Check out this chart above.
I know first hand HOW shifting to higher vibe options in my life can influence how I feel emotionally and physically in life.
I caught myself today. I could feel myself tightening up yesterday afternoon and evening after listening to more announcements. Which unfortunately, got worse again this morning. I could feel my bitterness towards the government oozing out. The mass amounts of fear being pushed on people, the lack of positive information being provided. It’s honestly scary. As someone who has successfully shifted her life, in a positive way mentally and physically, I feel very strongly in the choice of freedom and empowerment.
I began writing focusing on the fear, how bitter and angry it made me feel. The more I thought about it the more tense and in pain I became. That isn’t helpful to me or anyone else. What is helpful… sharing the true health and wellness information that the “powers at be” currently aren’t.
One thing I am so grateful I learned from my multitude of health challenges is that I can always trust myself. I know my body and health better than anyone, no matter the degree. Just like every single one of us. Medical professionals are trained on the science, as good as they are, there isn’t one other person who KNOWS how you or I feel.
This emotional guidance scale is also a beautiful reminder of how affirmations can positively influence one’s life.
Another awesome resource to check out is “You Can Heal Yourself” by Louise Hay. A brilliant resource that a friend introduced me to after a life altering flight. The power of our mind truly is remarkable. Some friends and I experienced a very turbulent flight that resulted in us being rerouted. It was emotionally terrifying. The day we were to fly back home, was nerve wracking. A good friend handed my friend and I this book to read Affirmations from as we oiled up and drove to the airport.
A couple which are in line with the tension I was experiencing today…
“I love and approve of myself. I see myself and what I do with eyes of love. I am safe.” (Headache)
“I relax into the flow of life and let life provide all that I need easily and comfortably. Life is for me.” (Migraine)
If there is one thing Ive learned in my lifetime its that I am not for everyone and everyone is not for me. Which is ok. Completely ok because we are all different, thankfully too right because if we were all the same, how boring would that be!? I guess maybe it would perhaps provide some peace and ease, but why can’t that happen even with differing opinions!?
As an introvert, the current situation of the world, actually I need to back that off because its not so much the world anymore, but it certainly is here in Canada. The fear being spread is perhaps even worse psychologically than the virus may be.
There are some VERY strong opinions out there. Very. I hold my own. As a friend mentioned this weekend when we were talking (yup IN person even…) everyone’s opinions are correct, because its THEIR OPINION. Which is true.
I read in our local paper last night some letters to the editor, I will be honest, many times I do not read the paper. I know saying “fake news” will trigger a lot of people, but what I have found (and I wont speak for my husband however we have stopped watching the news long before co)id was even mentioned) is the news spreads negativity fast!
Businesses, in the city in Ontario, are shut down again. The fear continues to be spread. Children are missing school because of COLDS. Colds that the government officials are deeming “co)id symptoms” so a child must miss 14 days of school or be tested. I overheard one child speaking about being tested and how horrible it was… the same child whose results came back negative, but was not allowed at school until the results came back, but it was ok for their sibling to go. Or now how I have to ask all my employees to sign in, every single morning to state and sign off that they do not have symptoms. What happened to common sense and being an adult!? What happened to the “common cold” where it was ok to sneeze and blow your nose because the weather was changing and suddenly its cold, then warm, then hot… all within 24 hours some days. Welcome to Ontario.
I get it my opinion, is mine. Just like yours is yours.
The government care’s about us… I call bullshit – straight up! Its funny though when I make my point of WHY I feel the government is lying when they say they care…
If the government cared about our health, MANY ingredients that are in our food, drink, beauty, cleaning products would be BANNED!
If the government cared about our health, natural health products would not be scrutinized as they are and have to go through what seems like an even lengthier approval process than hmmm for example the mass amounts of hand sanitizer that was being sold IN Canada and then was recalled because it wasn’t approved… yet they were sold!?
If the government cared about our health, they would be encouraging people to BE with their close friends and family – not spreading fear that we cannot be around our loved ones. But its ok to go into massive big stores, bars, restaurants etc.
If the government cared about our health, they would be encouraging us to take steps to improve our mental and physical health, boost up our immunity. However all I have heard the government and public health putting out is fear, stay away from people, do not get together with family at Thanksgiving, wear a mask, sanitize.
Really, the Government cares about us, the little people who pay for all of them!?
Bullshit…
Then there is the social media outlets that are almost getting as bad as the news, well at times they are. These platforms which are supposed to be free speech, obviously as long as respectful, however everyone is entitled to their opinion. Unless you use one of these platforms like FB, Insta, Twitter perhaps the others which I am not a user of… Ive pulled myself WAAAAY back. Especially after seeing some very harsh opinionated words in response to someone elses opinion or lately a friend sent me a new video ad from Kraft. Its safe to say I will be investing in the organic boxed pasta if my kids have the craving. I simply cannot support a company who markets to “send noods” when the majority of their commercials are directed at children. Whats worse… a friend sent this video to me over the weekend, which she reported on Insta, I saw it and reported it as well. I got a response back from Insta that it “didn’t go against their community guidelines” yet mothers were litterally ripping the company apart in the comments. A social platform will allow this yet anything deemed “conspiracy” which most times is someone’s opinion, is removed.
What kind of world are we living in? What is happening to our current world…
I know I am not the only one who finds it very unnerving about how the government is literally beginning to control our lives, yet phrasing it as doing it for “our protection”.
I understand people are getting sick, people get sick every single day. People were getting sick from many other diseases before this one arrived.
I am someone who used to be sick all.the.time. My health was crap. Legit. If I listened to what the medical system said I needed to do for my health (take pills) I would NOT be where I am today. I know that 100%!
And in having my strong opinions, Ive always been conscious about my health. Ask anyone who has handled chicken in my home. I am literally cleaning around them. Guess what I clean with and have been for over 5 years… NATURAL CLEANERS with NO toxic chemicals etc! I am the person who has hand sanitizer in her purse and car (um hello mom life), but the “healthy kind” the kind that doesn’t strip everything from your hands. Learning this natural holistic life has taught me a lot and honestly my opinions have become even stronger because of HOW I feel and the changes Ive made.
A local little restaurant posted on social and my husband shared the post with me. Where the frustrated owner speaks her truth about how the virus only attacks when you walk in or get up to use the washroom, otherwise you are “safe” in your bubble at the table where the government allows you to take your mask off… (if you could see my eye roll). At the height of this pandemic, we didn’t have to wear masks (which I fully agree with), yet now people are shamed if they choose not to. Yet its ok to drink and eat things that literally, literally weaken our health and make us sick! Literally.
Sadly the world is in need of a massive re-configuration, removal of judgement and bring about a balance of physical and mental health where all could love, be truly empowered and free!
I bet many of us would have never anticipated what 2020 has brought out…
What I am grateful for is its helped SO many people begin to question what their health is worth! Something many of us do not realize, until we as an individual or a loved one gets sick. Whether minor or serious.
Our health truly is the BEST investment we will ever make!
Why? Because it snowballs into ALL areas of our life.
Think of how you feel (emotionally/mentally) when you or your loved ones are sick? Not too great…
Our health is an investment, not an expense.
I am a firm believer in this and thoroughly enjoy learning and educating of WHY we should embrace empowered holistic health care within our own homes and as a part of our monthly budgets.
Some tips that I have personally found helpful for my mental and physical health…
Ingredients matter – just because a product is sold on the shelves in our stores this doesn’t mean its safe for use. Yes, you may need to read that again. I opt for organic when I can, prefer buying from our local butcher and farmers and avoid anything with “fragrance”. I also choose Non-GMO Gluten free. A shift that was much easier than I had ever thought it would be.
Nature knows – honestly, so grateful I leaned into the urge to explore a holistic approach to health. I am thankful I didn’t pick up that bottle of Oregano at the Pharmacy 😂! We use a combination of high quality essential oils, vitamins, minerals, probiotics etc when needed, in addition with our daily. Our body chemistry is unique, albeit similar to a plant. Plant based health care is easier for our body to recognize, its also incredibly effective.
Supplement my health daily – taking high quality vitamins, minerals and omega’s daily, are key! Hint… the grocery store is not the place to buy these things. Do your research into the products you use, check their websites, look for the research, testing etc. Every body is different in their supplemental needs. Since I have been doing this my health has enjoyed a beautiful boost!
Drink the water – this is huge! Not only does it help flush our system it helps with proper elimination when flushing our system. I have personally in the past month begun drinking 2 full 20oz water bottles as soon as I get up, before I leave the house each morning for work. This has made a significant shift in my digestive system.
Breathe the fresh air – getting outside and breathing in the fresh air is so good for our physical and mental health. Daily deep breathing can be life changing, even for a few minutes. I am an avid meditator, I find it calming, refreshing, mind opening. It’s a skill, I feel I am continually honing in on.
Love my space – even though we have been in reno mode for years, every single day I love our home even more. As we are approaching another significant completion, I can see our vision coming together even more. One that was once a dream, has become an amazing reality! Declutter and organize. Everything has a place.
Listen to my body – whether its what I, drink, wash, wear, who I am around or interact with, how I feel. This all matters in a very big way! The more I do, the healthier choices I make, the quicker I can identify feeling off. Our body is actually a wonderful communicator, if we allow it to talk to us! It’s an everyday, lifelong learning that I have embraced.
This week I was feeling more off. I was finding it challenging to figure out what was triggering this. Until I realized…
I looked up in my FODMAP app and sure enough, what I suspected, was most likely the culprit. Honey.
Although natural, honey can be challenging to the digestive system in large amounts. I can, thankfully, enjoy very small portion sizes.
Being conscious of how I’ve been feeling, when I ordered pizza for dinner tonight, I opted to listen to my body. Although I am lucky to have a great tasting gluten free pizza option available in town, my body is also sensitive to lactose (cheese) and higher sodium.
Yup, when I decided to clean up my health, my body is happy to remind me that she truly ENJOYS and THRIVES living a healthier lifestyle! Not with any of the old habits!!!
There was once a day, many years ago, when I felt like by me “having to give up my favourite foods”, wasn’t fair or that my health was actually a burden if I wasnt able to “eat normal”. I resisted making the shift. Who decides what “normal” is?! Just because famous people drink or eat something, hang on let me back that up. Just because “famous” people endorse something, does not mean anything! I am realizing more and more each day how little I care about “famous” people and their opinions.
I continue to shift daily, some small baby steps and others large leaps! True health is a lifestyle, unique to each of us! 🥰 True health is honoring my body in HOW I FEEL! Me, and only me. Just like how everyone should base their health.
Tonight as I ordered the pizza for my family, I remembered the photo my aunt sent me the other night, of her home made pizza created on a gluten free wrap… bingo! I had naturals ham, lactose free cheese, veggies, sauce… let me tell you! Yup I had to make it, I got to make it exactly how I love it and… It was delicious!!!
What maybe at one time looked like I had to “give something up”, I was in truth making the choice and shift in life, that my body and health thrives with! 🙌
What is my health worth?!
I am worth feeling good!!! I am worth the investment of healthy foods, drinks and products as a part of my everyday and to be a positive role model to the kids in my life.
