Brene Brown’s ‘Call To Courage’ which debuted on Netflix April 19th is an hour and 19 minutes well spent for all ages. She started out quoting Theodore Roosevelt, above. As a shame researcher I learned from Brene that shame is when you are in a room of people you like, you walk out and they say so many horrible things about you that you cannot walk back into that room. Ive experienced that shame. Its very real and very hurtful. Brene validated feelings of shame when the internet is a cesspool of hurtful and shameful people.

I learned from Brene… Be brave and take chances. Vulnerability is having the courage to show up when you have no control. Unless you too are in the arena bettering yourself – I am not interested in your opinion – in general and of me and my life.

Don’t grab the hurtful stuff from the cheap seats – criticism and feedback from people who are not authentic and true to themselves.

We obviously care about what other people think, because we are hardwired to care – however we can be selective of who you care about and surround yourself with people who love you for who you are – no matter what. Show up and be brave.

Rejection, shame and loneliness is how you feel when someone will not connect with you – this is when the story telling begins. We create a story in our head of why or what the other person is thinking. Be real and be honest.

If you want to have more love, joy and happiness in your life you need to allow yourself to be more vulnerable. Let yourself be seen, be vulnerable. Many people think its better to just put up armour to protect. The problem with this is when you put up armour, you feed into a way of negative thinking and being. Where shame, fear, grief and scarcity is born from.

I love how Brene explains that we are hardwired for belonging. The opposite of belonging is “fitting in”, which lets be honest, when you fit in with the crowd you ignore or push aside true parts of you. Belonging is about belonging to yourself first and being who you truly are – which is vulnerable.

Brene talked about how Joy can be the most vulnerable of our emotions. I know Ive felt it, everything can be going along so amazingly well and you begin thinking “uh oh what is going to happen next…” and you loose out on truly enjoying that joy feeling. We loose the joy feeling and allow fear to creep in. With fear we typically then begin to dress rehearse tragedy. We need to lean into gratitude, truly be grateful for what and who we have in our life. Gratitude can also be vulnerable. When we are grateful for someone or something, there is still a chance they could be taken from us (loving someone and losing them). This is how when we are truly grateful, we can also understand loss. Being grateful, is healing.

Cherish the everyday moments. This is one thing I absolutely cherish in my own life. When the kids were young I took countless photos of them just being kids. As they have gotten older, this is one thing I have missed, however they now have new moments to appreciate and capture. There were so many moments on the snowmobile trails this winter that I took a memory photo to remember. Otherwise we would have been stoping every 5 minutes. A bucket list goal of mine to get out with my camera on the trails, safely!

Brene talked about ‘just choosing joy’. Effort and taking a chance. Be open to empathy, trust, innovation, creativity, inclusivity, hard conversations, feed back, problem solving, ethical decision making. If you arent vulnerable there is no creativity.

If you feel very strongly about something, don’t stay quiet. We have a lot of learning to do, at all ages. Also mistakes, navigating blind spots. I loved how she used the term blind spots. It’s so true. We “plan” our lives but then quickly learn that our plans might be a good idea, its going to unfold how it’s meant to, for whatever reason!?

If you expect yourself and others around you to be perfect, there is no room for error or vulnerability, change will not happen. Brene, so simple and brilliant, talk to people, not about them.

This really stood out to me as I have been very conscious about living and being truly Authentic. This means living in a much higher state of truth than I ever have before and also yes, raising my standards of life.

I really enjoyed watching Brene’s show this morning. It was uplifting, reassuring, heart warming and funny. I had alot of take aways, as you can see above. I totally get her message. She is definitely not saying to air everything you do on social media, especially when it comes to being negative. It’s so easy, and honestly scary, how negative some people can be and how quickly and easily it happens. Social media, as Brene Brown described it as a cesspool of hurtful, shameful people. Its unfortunately sad that there is so many. So it’s really being conscious about reaching up and living with purpose, whatever that is. What lights you up, who do you enjoy being around, what type of people do you want to work with (co-workers and customers). We all can attract in who and what we need.

We’ve been learning alot about being vulnerable within our family and home. Anyone else into renovations?! I can honestly say I would not go back and change a thing. It has taught us SO much. About our beautiful house, ourselves and each other. We have custom designed our home with what we want and need, our desires. However one thing we have learned by being vulnerable is that change is not always easy. It can feel overwhelming and messy, not just renovation messy but house messy. It’s not because I dont want a clean house, I totally do. I’ve learned that renovations pull me into almost of a constant vulnerable state until completion. Everything is shifted around somehow. Which means other places in our home is more cluttered than normal. I am so excited as we approach the end, especially because everything will have a home. We can finished getting organized in a very big way, which is huge for us and convenience and ease for our family is going to sky rocket! I am loving the look and for months have been able to see the vision! To see it coming to life, even better than we had imagined or designed! Its amazing, my friends, how we can grow as people during challenging times! I’m certainly not the same person I was before we started this reno journey and I am grateful for the person I am today. Even more grateful, appreciative, patient, caring, loving, communicative and alot more authentic! Once complete I will be sharing the incredible transformation and what made it so worth my own vulnerability! 😍


Words of Wisdom | Arlene Dickinson

I had the absolute pleasure of joining a beautiful friend for a girls night of good food, great wine and inspiring words from the beautifully successful and humble Arlene Dickinson.

An evening of connecting with like minded individuals and hearing her speak of truth, love, sacrifice, growth, abundance and success.

A few things that truly stood out for me last evening…

Arlene spoke of one of her jobs while trying to literally make ends meet, as a bill collector. Something that anyone and everyone with a business will experience at some point in their life. It’s a thankless job much of the time that can really pull even the most positive person down. Arlene explained that there are two types of people in this world…

1. The people who, no matter what, will stay true to their word no matter what it takes. Who live in truth and honesty. Truly authentic people.

2. Then there are the people who just dont care and will never be true to their word.

I’ve personally experienced both in my life, personally and in business. I mentioned a few blog posts back that I had a Male businessman make a comment to me that I “scare him”… because I was doing my job and following up on a payment promise this man had made to me (and already broke). It completely took me aback for a second… until I realized he wasn’t scared of me, he was/is intimidated by me and my strong, articulate, independent, authentic business skills and ethics of when someone gives you their word they should stand by it… Thank you Arlene for reinforcing the power and strength of a woman in business and to never back down to someone who is trying to intimidate and belittle you… always rise above!

Another thing that really stood out for me was when she spoke about her marriage falling apart and her despair of not knowing how to move forward in her life. I cannot remember exactly what she said however it was when she spoke of her Dad when he essentially told her to pick herself up and that there was only 1 person who could change her life… her!

It took me back to a time when my dad said something similar to me, my boyfriend at the time had moved away for “work” and left me alone with all these promises. My dad told me to get up and stop crying over him… of course at that exact moment I was pissed, he didnt understand, how insensitive… BUT it pushed me to get up, to go out and rediscover the life I had literally put on hold and pushed aside for so many years. Honestly, it’s when I got my life back. It has taken years to properly heal and move forward, however it was monumental in my path in life. A path that I did not understand at the time. A path that was meant to be walked to make me into the strong woman and mom I am today and am still growing into every single day.

Follow your heart, be authentic, be you, everyone has a story, support each other, there is more than enough to go around, we can all stand on top of our own mountains! Especially women, not thay long ago life was totally different for women in business.

One of the biggest life lessons I learned last night from Arlene, by listening, was that you must keep moving forward. Bad things will happen, you cannot go back and change it. Every one of us has a story, so be compassionate and authentic to others.

Always Growing | My Camera

It’s been a bit since I’ve written from my soul. I will admit I had something sh*tty happen to me that made me dig in a little deeper.

Photography for me is like an escape. I love capturing amazing shots of life, landscape and everything in between.

While shooting with my camera, my lens fell off. Literally fell off my camera. I was devastated. I promptly called Canon the next business day to find out that my lens is no longer serviceable. Once the shock wore off I cried big ugly alligator size tears. At work. Wasn’t fun. I actually kept repeating to myself, ‘what is this trying to teach me?’ Sometimes it’s not very clear, or what you want to realize.

My lens is beyond repair. Sucks. I’ve had it less than 10 years and its now a paper weight. Literally. I love my camera equipment and carefully selected each lens with a purpose.

I’ve sat on this for a bit. I struggled. Big time. Its not just the loss of the lens, its financially replacing it.

It has however pushed me to use a lens I haven’t used in a long time. To fall back in love with it and why it’s so amazing. Hmmm life lesson 1, appreciate everything you have.

I pushed myself to raise up. Raise up from what feels so much easier. Do what makes you feel good. For me one of that was getting shooting again! With that lens I haven’t used in a while. Write more, listen, learn. Be present, be loving, be there for others when needed, be the protector for your energy.

and… Wear the “nice clothes”!

Although today was a sad reason for dressing up, it raised me up even more. Wear the nice clothes, don’t wait for a “special” occasion or reason. Embrace life and all its twists and turns. Real life. By living authentically. True to my heart. Allowing myself to process the feelings and move forward. Like I said I was devastated. The past cannot be changed, the present is an incredible gift and the future is full of possibilities. Then capture it… real life just like my photo above. Real life for us is back in reno mode – but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. So all mirrors in our home are currently reflecting our real life in this moment – which is OK because soon enough its going to get organized and cleaned into the space we have envisioned for a while!

Suck it up buttercup and let it go!

It was also a beauty of a reminder for me how when you feel good, you naturally carry yourself higher and happier. As I enjoyed some quiet time reading in my comfy’s, I remembered just how much I am truly grateful for. No time to dwell. I kicked my health in the ass and took control. I had an awesome “before and after” to appreciate. 1 year of determination, life shifts and love has continued to bless me with healthy success. Even years later!

So much to be happy for and proud of. Yes negative things happen, unfortunately they cannot be changed so we must choose to grow from the experience!

Life lesson 2 – Honor your heart. I appreciate quality, I know the quality. I thought of looking at cheaper slower lens… However I know I would loose enjoyment to my photography. So I choose to invest in me and keep my passion alive! Be authentic. Loosing all that weight has helped me be more adventurous with the kids and my camera is a key factor in capturing our adventures and fun!!!

Embrace What You Have Been Given | Dear Universe

As part of my personal development journey this has become a big part of it – Embrace what you have been given. Something along the lines of “everything happens for a reason”, even when it can be frustrating to figure out the why – which we really and truly may not ever know. It could be life experience learning moment.

New Moon Cloud of Darkness

The more in tune I become with myself the more I realize just how connected our energy is — especially with relation to the moon!

The other day I was tested – in a very big, close to my heart and wallet, way. My most used camera lens fell off my camera. Literally fell off while I was using it. Thankfully the glass was ok. The mounting ring was not. Upon speaking with my camera manufacturer I learned my less than 10 year old lens was no longer serviceable... photogs let that sink in and you will feel my deep heart felt emotion which resulted in great big, fat alligator tears.

The rest of the day continued with a mix of emotions – however by the end of the day I went home to our nest, my husband continued work on our new mudroom and laundry room (that I am eagerly awaiting) and I admired the awesome size of the utility closet he finished framing in! Yup thats my happiness at this stage of my life… I am SUPER stoked for my closet so my vacuum, norwex broom/mop, my tool box, dog food and a variety of other odds and sods will finally have a true “home”! The virgo in me is patiently waiting to get organizing!

Before bed I meditated. I slept well, slept until almost when my alarm went off, meditated, did my daily greatness journal and read a couple lessons in A Course In Miracles. I then got up and started getting ready for the day and was hit with literally a cloud of darkness. It was dark, dreary and just blah outside. No defining reason why but the energy felt very thick, heavy and sad. Even as my day went on, my energy felt almost stagnant in my body. At lunch I took some time to meditate again. Checked my chakra’s and my Solar Chakra was blocked, it actually took some time to clear before I could begin to feel relief. I literally was feeling like I was a sponge the day before and sucked up all the negative energy from everyone around me and it just threw me for a loop today.

Being Authentic When Other’s Aren’t

The other day I was told by a man that I “scare him”. It honestly stopped me for a second and I had to re-gather my thoughts. Also keeping in context my reason for calling… I was promised payment by a specific date by this person . My response was, “don’t make your problems my problems, you lied to me and are not true to your word” which unfortunately in this case is the cold hard facts.

On my personal development journey, being truly authentic has become a very important part of my daily life. Standing by your word, being truthful and honest. This has brought me great peace and joy to my life, however can be very challenging when dealing with other people who are not living an authentic, truthful and honest life.

However it also got me thinking about how there are still so many men (and women) out there who cannot handle a strong woman. Not only a strong woman, but a strong, confident woman who speaks her truth. I admit I haven’t always been this strong. There was a time that I allowed a man to steal a piece of my soul. I have done a lot of work to regain my strength and voice, which I am very proud of. I choose to live an authentic, honest, truthful life and it can be very challenging dealing with others who do not.

Always rise above. As much as I would love to scream and yell at this person and tell the world what a dishonest business man he is – the truth of that is, it only brings my vibe down. After all…

I allowed myself 5 min to feel the anger of being lied to – its real, whether its a man or women in your life who are not true to their word, it hurts. But then I rose back up! Working in what used to be known as a “man’s industry” this isn’t the first time Ive encountered this. Regardless of who the person is – saying I “scare him” is a cowards response to dealing with the truth and I do not lower myself to cowards.

How to Rise Above Unauthentic People

No matter what oils you have handy, get them on you and you will begin to feel yourself begin to turn around.
  • Meditation – This is a beautiful practice to get into daily no matter who or what age you are. It helps calm the brain, re-align your thoughts and raise your consciousness.
  • Journal – We all have feelings and lets be honest if someone truly rubs you the wrong way (in an emotional sense) this can be upsetting, especially if you are someone who is living an authentic, honest life. Journaling can help release these feelings onto paper so they are no longer swirling around in your head.
  • Be Confident – There may be times that you have to stand your ground and be very firm. Years ago we had a male elderly customer who was not very respectful to women at all. After being rude to two of my female co-workers one too many times, I very firmly told him that if he could not respect the women in our office, we would not be doing any more business with him and asked him (and his wife) to please leave our office. If you allow yourself to be vulnerable to these bully’s they will continue to treat you this way.
  • Avoid Energy Vampires – Continue living in your truth – follow your heart, do not let anyone drag you down or lower your vibration. Energy vampires like to blame everyone else for their problems and want to bring you down to their lower frequency. “Hurt people, hurt people”. The work they need to do is within themselves and no one but them, can help them. Their actions, lies etc are a direct reflection of them – not you!
  • Eat Healthy and Sleep Sound – When our body and brains are fueled by healthy food and we are well rested, we are naturally stronger to block or avoid negativity or energy vampires from getting into our personal space and when we are affected by energy vampires, we can more easily bounce back to where we need to be!
  • Live In The Here and Now – Leave everything in the past and live in the now. Dwelling on anything in the past, or what you should have said or did, will bring you further down. The past is in the past, look to the future. Be grateful. Take responsibility for your own life.
  • Trust Your Intuition – That feeling in your gut that you get when you are nervous or scared, can also happen with people in general. Its unfortunate but there is a lot of people out there who live day to day in lies. If this is something you want to repell from your life, learn to trust your gut instinct.

  • On January 1st I committed to a new daily routine of writing in my dailygreatness journal planner. Its amazing how much information is up there swirling around in my head. Actually this is maybe one of the reasons I love the movie ‘Inside Out’ so much! ;) The daily practice morning and night of thinking and writing about what we are greatful for begins massive shifts in our mind, which then affects our daily life. I use my dailygreatness as well as a plain lined paper journal to get my thoughts out when I need to, but also a handy resource to look back on.
  • Joel Osteen is an inspirational man who is the preacher of a non-denominational church in Texas. He was recommended to me by a friend, to put it on in the background and just listen. Every single message that he was preaching about, I could feel in my heart and relate to in my life in someway. His message, is truly for everyone and I found resonates with my spiritual heart and soul.

  • Gabby Bernstein, I was inspired by a friend to pick up this book. One I had on my list for quite a while and after reading I can truly say is an incredible mind opening inspiration. The Universe Has Your Back was truly life shifting for me. This is the first book that I actually read every single page of since I would say early high school. This book is what has reignited a lost part of me, that I now know exactly when I let it slip. To rediscover WHO I am, reconnect with who I was. Learning of the struggles Gabby over came in her life to become the person she is today, wherever you are at in your life journey you can find reassurance, comfort, inspiration and hope with this book to know that life challenges aren’t sent to break us, they are sent to help us grow and become the person we are meant to be who can also live without judgment. Love in love, not in fear. I personally find Gabby’s voice reassuring, very real and raw but also supportive and encouraging. She truly has a way with words. I am excited to read more of her books and love listening to her meditations!
  • Sarah Prout I have been following for a about 3 years now. She is a soft natured spiritual teacher who literally went from rags to riches when she rose above domestic abuse and trusted herself. Her story and mindset are inspirational. She recently came out with a book, Dear Universe. I was lucky to receive an electronic advance readers copy of this book and have enjoyed some of her mini meditations. Even something as simple as, “Dear Universe, May I release any feelings of negativity from my body and heart. I now forgive the past and put it behind me. I now move forward into a future of honesty, integrity and joy. So be it, so it is.” Can truly shift the mind from negative to positive, the more you do this, the more in tune with YOU, you will become!
  • Rachel Hollis, can I be honest and admit she was someone who at first I was like, nope I do not resonate with her at all… until I read the books ;) She is real life. Honestly, everything from being a woman, wife, mom and everything in between. Refreshing to read a woman who is not afraid to step up and make it be known. To be completely who she was meant to be, with zero apologies. I read Girl, Wash Your Face and enjoyed it, however when I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of Girl, Stop Apologizing, this book truly hit my heart and soul. I began being so much more mindful of how often I was apologizing in my daily life, even for things that did not need an apology, like replying back to someone who emailed or messaged me “Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner…” when in truth, I didn’t get back to them sooner because I was dealing with or doing other things or maybe quite honestly I chose to not do anything – either of which is OK and does not require an apology at all.
  • Dr Shefali is a brilliant woman who I happened upon after watching a fun video on Facebook. I was busy in the kitchen and an interview with Oprah began playing. She was talking about her newest book, The Awakened Parent. I love her honest, natural approach to consciously parenting. Rising above yelling and trying to control every little thing with our children to move to true happiness where everyone learns patience, to be empowered and also independent as a strong, confident person. I have watched hours of Dr Shefali speak and her parenting style in alignment with how I wanted to be living. It can be frustrating being a parent with those responsibilities alone, also add in the daily of keeping up with the house, meals, laundry, and work. A few tweaks with what you learn from Dr Shefali is a beautiful shift in parenting for parents and kids! What this has taught me is its not just about being an awakened parent, its about living a conscious life.
  • A Course In Miracles(ACIM) is a unique spiritual self-study program designed to awaken us to the truth of our oneness with God and Love.” We are able to grow as a person ‘by learning to heal all of our relationships through the inspired practice of forgiveness’. Although I do not consider myself a religious person, I am a spiritual person who completely believes in God. I have my belief’s but I personally do not need a specific church or religion to dictate what I will believe in. What I like about this book is that it really is re-training your mind to reset.

  • The Gift of a Happy Mother written by Rebecca Eanes is the most recent book I just finished. I honestly have a stack to read through and am so excited. I am grateful to have received an advance copy of this book. Rebecca speaks from the heart in a way any mother can not just understand, but relate to and feel confident in following their own heart when raising their babies in a healthy conscious way, while supporting themselves as well! All throughout the book I found myself being able to relate with the author at various ages and stages of parenthood. A reassuring voice, opportunity to grow and connect with children, parents and real life. Someone to relate to but also learn from. This is a warm hearted, easy read that I also highly recommend.
  • Another fav is Dr Mariza’s newest book, The Essential Oils Hormone Solution. Myself having real life success of natural weight loss by supporting my body in a holistic way I was excited to receive this book and dive into it! So many resources, suggestions and options for any hormonal women’s health issue you could imagine. Dr Mariza has real life experience as well with being challenged with her health. Highly recommend for all of the ladies!

Curious… now that Ive shared what has been near and dear to my heart on this personal growth journey (which… psssst is a part of our daily life – we just need to make time for it ;) ) what books or resources do you love and would recommend?


Consciously Cooking & Cleaning

Tis the season when many of us are thinking spring cleaning. For our homes and some of us our bodies. Ive been getting a lot of questions about how we made a shift so I thought I would share with you!

It takes work and commitment to CHANGE! If you do not want to see a change, you simply wont. Especially if you do not commit to making changes –> Lifestyle Changes!

We are learning every single day of ways to improve our living, eating, sleeping, well-being etc. Its not a one size fits all nor one magic pill. Life is filled with ups and downs, bumps and turns where you have to learn to adjust and alter your route at times.

Cooking and cleaning in our home now, is completely different than it was 5 years ago. We are all learning how to consciously cook and clean – with the mama’s lead and direction.

There was a commercial on TV the other night and honestly I wasn’t paying attention until my husband began making fun of it saying ‘oh yes if you say I need this then obviously I need this…’ It was about a man having fungus on his toe and the commercial saying “the ONLY option is you need to get a prescription…”. This is the world we live in where the majority of people believe what is broadcast on TV to be gospel. Now I am not a religious person, I am however a spiritual believer in God. I choose to have my beliefs based on my opinion. Much like how we live in our home now. If I listened to everything that was MARKETED to us that we need this and there is no other way… my health would still very much be in jeopardy!

Consciously cooking and cleaning is being fully aware of what you are putting in your mouth, in your home and on your body. Im not talking about being all scientific about things either. Im talking about doing the research to actually KNOW what you are using in your home simply by looking at the ingredients. Trusting your gut and nose. I am now extremely sensitive to the smell of chemicals and fake things.

I know that living with PCOS – which affects 1 in every 10 women – there are foods, chemicals, toxins that negatively impact my body and life. This is the same for living an ADHD life. My health has also been impacted by Endometriosis and Hypothyroidism. PCOS, Hypothyroidism and Endometriosis are endocrine illnesses. The common factor is ENDOCRINE DISRUPTORS. Once I learned what this is, I began cleaning house – literally!

Ladies (and men) its OK to say NO to something that you have always used or eaten. Its ok to change the way you do things – you do not have to explain to anyone! Men… you need to take notice as well because your “boys” are also affected by endocrine disruptors! Especially key if you are trying to conceive.

Consciously cooking and cleaning is choosing to put your health first. Ive heard many people complain about how expensive it is… Do you realize how expensive illness is? Many people do not until its too late.

Did you know that our gut health is directly tied to our mental health and wellness! It totally is.

You can choose to make changes now. Our bodies need water, sleep and healthy nutrition. They do not need chemicals and toxins. You do not need chemicals and toxins to clean your home. I can say this because Im living it. We have not used a chemical cleaner in our home in over 3 years – and actually it may even be longer. There is a time for prescription medications – but not every time. Super bugs are building up resistance to antibiotics – these chemicals and toxins many people use i their daily life are assisting with this.

A mentor gave a great example in a recent presentation about health and wellness, she shared a commercial about how if you have zantac you can eat or drink whatever you want because it will “deal” with the indigestion you get… Much like many over the counter medications and many prescriptions that actually only deal with the symptoms and not the actual root cause of the problem – which in this case is WHY and WHAT are you eating that you are experiencing these issues?

The other issue is in our daily life we simply are not getting the vitamins, minerals and omega’s that our body requires to operate in a healthy way. Trust me I used to think that I didn’t need vitamins or that taking 1 great big horse pill and then peeing out bright yellow pee was sufficient to say I was “being healthy”… Its not!

Consciously cooking and cleaning is choosing to take control of YOUR life. Choosing to be aware of what you are eating and using. If you want to see changes in your life, you need to choose to make the changes required otherwise you will continue going around and around on the merry go round not getting anywhere.

Do the research. Don’t just take my word or your aunts, mom, grama, or especially the TV. Do the work yourself. Decide what YOU want and perhaps need to see happen in your life. Then get to work. My monthly wellness box that arrives every month from doTERRA is worth every single dollar. Its built into our budget. The money I used to spend at the grocery store or pharmacy on shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hair gel, cold and flu products, headache products, muscle rub, all purpose cleaner, window cleaner, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, digestive upset, pain medication… I moved this over to choosing to buy clean. Choosing to invest in myself and my family. Am I saying you can only be healthy by using doTERRA, nope as I said above you need to do the research yourself. I personally have found great success and results by using plant based essential oils which are the highest quality in the world and clean products infused with oils. The quality and ingredients matter.

Last night we had home made pizza for dinner. It was SO good! I personally do not use white flour, bread, sugar so I adapt any all purpose flour and white sugar recipes for whole wheat and honey. Why!? Because this is what is healthy for not just my body, but also for my family. Does everyone understand our reasoning, nope! Do I care, nope! I also make our own dish soap with liquid castile soap and our On Guard Cleaning Concentrate. It suds up as the sink is filling and then the suds disappear. Its still very effective. The only challenge Ive had is if something is really greasy I will add soap directly onto the item and then clean :)

Consciously adapting your life to choosing health. Choosing healthy living over convenience and cost. However, as we have chosen to purchase our healthy products from doTERRA, when I place our order every month (which is whatever I want it to be) we can earn free products as well as points. I am currently earning 30% back on everything I purchase. So for example every month I purchase our supplements, for myself and the kids, my hubby is still adjusting his lifestyle and thats ok! Most times our points we earn are used on oils which we use every single day in our home to support our health, cleanse the air and they smell amazing ;)

However, don’t just take my word for it. Sit down and think about your life and health.

  • How do you feel?
  • How well do you sleep?
  • Do you have any health issues?
  • Do your kids have any health issues?
  • Are you or anyone in your family over weight?
  • Do you have headaches?
  • Do you drink enough water?
  • What are your meals like?

Part of consciously cooking and cleaning is also being aware that as humans in this “busy” world we live in – we NEED downtime. I don’t care who you are, for our mental health stability everyone needs their own space, whatever that may be, and honor themselves that they need to rest and relax their brain. Some ways I love to do this is meditation and reading. Reading is one thing I lost and have found again to enjoy.

“The Darkness Is Always There”

Got a call from my mom this morning, “lets take the kids to the movies”, my man child was heading to hockey vs the parents as their last hockey day for the 2018/19 season. So the girls got ready and headed out of town to the movies!

The movie we went to see was Wonder Park. I had never even seen a preview so had no clue what to expect, I was just hoping it would be good.

The room got dark and the movie previews began. The cutest puppy running across the screen. Within second my eyes were full of tears. A Dog’s Journey pulled on all of my heart strings. Check it out, grab the kleenex before you do. A beautiful journey of how a dog literally grows up with the same boy, man, father, grandfather and then grand-daughter. As a dog mom I truly appreciated this, with the various dogs we have had throughout our lives. When our boy Elwood passed, we had already agreed we would get another dog so I contacted the breeder and let her know we would like a yellow boy. My husband had his heart set on the one dad who was in the kennel, he wanted one of his pups because he reminded him of the dog they had growing up. I contacted the breeder and let her know of getting on the list and not even a week later she emailed us and let us know our boy was born. Becker was born on July 8th, our Elwood passed on July 2nd. Our girls Tara and Hazel, Kelsey is an incredible blend of both girls, of course with her own personality, but honestly their traits are so incredibly similar. My girl snuggled up with me when she saw the tears begin falling. I used to worry about hiding all my emotions from my kids, more so when they were a lot younger, its so healthy though for kids to know emotions are normal and something that you have to allow your body, mind and soul to feel. You need to allow expression vs suppressing how you are feeling. I was full out crying. But it was totally ok. I completely appreciated my daughters support, her putting her head on my shoulder. She has such a sensitive soul. We have always encouraged our kids to feel their emotions, use words to explain and figure out whats going on inside. Sometimes its tough even for adults to process how they feel, think of a child, who this is all totally new to. We need to model this for them, that its ok. Of course keeping it child friendly too. What you may say to a 12 year old you wouldn’t say to a 3 year old.

The movie, Wonder Park was completely new, I had never saw a preview and it unfolded incredibly. My take on the movie – which you will also see in the trailer is… when you loose your childhood magic – the darkness sets in. Always hold onto that magic of being a child. When life happens we begin to harden, hold in emotions, lash out at others, financial stress, family and house life etc… This can happen at all ages. Regardless of who you are, what you do or what you have. No one person has immunity from feeling darkness. Children and adults. The movie displays quite a moving display of losing the magic in your life and darkness sneaking in. Turning the light on your darkness and finding the magic and happiness again. But the darkness will always be there, this is a new part of you that is nothing to be ashamed of but more aware of. Nothing wrong at all with why or how the darkness happened. Once June began to put the hints together she was able to stand strong against the darkness and find that magic and joy again. It truly was moving. I absolutely loved the message. A growth and development journey.

Always be YOU! The true you – not who you “think” you should be or who someone else thinks or tells you you should be or do. Sit with it, WHO ARE YOU? Why are you so special? Hint – we all are in our very own way ;) This is something that was hard for me. Hard to allow myself to think of just me. I don’t exactly know why but it made me feel selfish. Especially after having kids. I spent money on the kids, not on me. When I bought my first DSLR Camera, I was SO excited, I saved for it. It was expensive but I researched and had pro’s and con’s lists, received valuable feedback from my uncle and I made the leap. Best leap ever! Point and shoot up to a DSLR – whoa the quality, speed… with kids – AH Mazing! I was stoked but yet, I pushed myself back down, not wanting to feel like I had to justify HOW I got this camera. In a previous post I briefly talked about being a working mom. Something Ive always been, our work life has always been a part of our life, its integrated in our day to day. I am also grateful to be a working mom, this was one of my reasonings, however also not why I justify how I budget and spend my money. There are some things in life that are a priority to me and something I truly want, so I enjoy working and for me I appreciate contributing to the family, especially when I also appreciate quality and value. So even though I worked hard to be able to buy the DSLR camera, I still felt bad about it or that I didn’t deserve it…

The personal growth journey is real! Very real let me tell you. When you choose to step into the light, yup the darkness is always there. No matter what your darkness is or was, its always there. But when you step into the light – your life truly shifts. The gratitude you previously felt, magnifies.

When I heard this, “The Darkness Is Always There” it all began to make sense. If we all have felt darkness, who is anyone to judge anyone else’s darkness. We all process life, circumstances, healing etc differently. What might be easy for you, is challenging for them. The more we can step back from judgment, by focusing on our own life and simply living in love vs living in hate. People who spread hate and hurt – are hurt and refusing to accept that. Even people dealing with various challenges can still be good people – when they live in love. A beautiful reminder from another fav of mine, Gabby Bernstein with The Judgment Detox. I began reading this while on our the Disney Cruise – its an interactive read. Not one that was an “easy vacation read”. So its next on my list after I finish Energetic Boundaries by Cyndi Dale. Its so absolutely fascinating how the energy of our entire life from the time of conception, forms us into who we are today and how we can shift that and change patterns.

The darkness is always there.
