Supporting Kids with Big Emotions

Our little man, who really isn’t so “little” anymore haha was struggling with overwhelm and emotions last night. We just let him be and have his space with quiet time in his room. With big emotions, we have found this is the best option – to offer space and support when ready. I went in and put his diffuser on and within 30 minutes he came into the kitchen, ate his dinner, joined me in the living room where I was reading and asked if it was time to do oils, then asked if he could soak his feet (with epsom salts and oils), while soaking his feet he asked if I still had the mud mask cream, he went into the bathroom and put the mud mask on his face LOL… he literally went from complete overwhelm (sugar, emotions, school) to having a spa night with his family in the living room and back to his amazing, happy self. It also helped that our family enjoyed a technology free night last night. Sometimes the quiet is exactly what we need to help reset! My heart was so full <3

I feel its very important to honor our kids and their feelings. To help them move through them rather than sit with them and possibly at times, silently suffer. Feelings children feel, are very different from what we as adults feel. However, for them in their life it may feel huge and we, as their loved ones can help bring comfort and also at times reality to help calm the chaos happening in their mind. Using words to describe how I am feeling or how my husband or other family members are feeling helps to expand their vocabulary to learn its ok to feel frustrated, sad, upset, anxious, exhausted, overwhelmed, confused etc no matter the age. However regardless of the situation, everyone in this world faces challenges at some point in our lives and this is where we can gain strength as we grow through it. Removing stigma, judgement and fear can help envelope in love.

That evening, both kids got “their oils” on (morning and evening ritual of Balance, Cedarwood, Vetiver, Frank as well as a blend of DDR, Frank, Turmeric and Copaiba on their spine and the Energy Protect blend of On Guard, Melalueca/Tea Tree, TerraShield and Frankincense on their spines. They also typically get back rubs with oils as well – with the oils of their choosing and sometimes I add in my own suggestion for support.

The oils we have been using in the kids diffusers lately has been 2 drops each of Petitgrain, On Guard, Breathe (easy air) and Cedarwood.

Interestingly enough our energy protection blend that I had been using religiously on the kids for the past 4 months, ran out early January and I was substituting it with just a blend of On Guard and Tea Tree – powerful oils to boost immunity, however I now see where this protection blend was helping them both in their daily life. Last night I topped up all oils including Lemon which my son wears on his wrists and was very low for the last week. Consistency and daily use truly does help support our physical and emotional health! Good reminder for this mama as we all know, sometimes life can get “busy” and we all need to slow down, refocus and come into balance within ourselves. <3

Interestingly enough, there is a new moon tonight… Anyone who is highly sensitive like myself and my two little’s will feel the connection to the planets.

Rising Woman said it perfectly… “The New Moon is an ocean of eternity. A spiritual bath. We are taken to the tides. Pisces season is highly Sensitive, changing and emotional. It is pourous and without-bounds. If things are foggy and unclear, retreat and meditate until you can hear the silence. If you are drained, sleep, rest and fill your cup. If you do nothing else on this Moon, make space to escape from the mundane world enough to feel your emotions.”

Oils, Energy and Forgiveness

A very powerful trio – Oils, Energy and Forgiveness!

At some point in everyone’s life we have done someone wrong or someone has done wrong to us.

It’s a fact of life, no one is perfect. However where we go is how we grow! Always learning and striving to be the best person we can each be better than we were yesterday.

The Forgiveness Symphony Protocol is one I have been admiring and wanted to give to everyone in my family and receive from my hubby.

This protocol can assist people with feelings of anger, respiratory challenges, immune, depression, hate, fatigue, emotional trauma, broken heart, self doubt and so much more!

The line up…

  1. Rose – The Oil of Divine Love
  2. Geranium – The Oil of Love & Truth
  3. Frankincense – The Oil of Truth
  4. Neroli – The Oil of Purpose & Partnership
  5. Carrier oil
  6. Clove – The Oil of Boundaries
  7. Melissa – The Oil of Light
  8. Juniper Berry – The Oil of Night
  9. Bergamot – The Oil of Self Acceptance
  10. Renewing Blend – The Oil of Forgiving

A beautiful and powerful combination! The oils alone, however I also used my crystals and Reiki to balance the chakras. I just love feeling the tension literally melt from their bodies. Yes kids have stress, it may seem small to adults, however it’s all things in perspective!

It was an awesome way to end the day and connect with each of the kids after a day well spent!

If you have any question about the oils we used please let me know I am happy to help! We have found our family thrives when we listen to our bodies. Honor the rest, repair and recharge that we need. Including bringing in some holistic health to naturally support the cells in our body! It’s an amazing way to connect too! 💕

Just a Tuesday Evening at Home!

Yummy Turmeric Tea, Diffuser Blend, Bath Bomb, Essential Oils, Food and My Family. My kind of weekday night!

I am always curious about natural ways to support a healthy metabolism. My body needs a little bit of loving to keep the metabolism going so I am grateful my oils can support me with this! A couple drops in my tea or even just a couple drops with hot water, warms my heart and soul.

We had a great evening at home. Tonight was one of those nights that I knew I needed to be more present for the kids but also at a distance giving them space to do their chores. I knew we were going to have a simple meal – frozen lasagna, made locally at our butcher with local ingredients! The BEST (and only) frozen meals I will buy! Threw that in the oven, got the kids going on what they needed to, watched my show and then… after checking on dinner and realizing I had 21 minutes… I went and had a hot bath! My kids even checked in on me before getting in and the boy got me one of my handmade bath bombs that my daughter gave me for Christmas.

We had a great meal. Part of that meal was parenting. See we had a problem this morning that I needed feedback on. All of us were slow this morning. It was just “one of those mornings”. The kids were late for the bus, I got out the door without my supplements and felt slightly bad at how the kids left for school. I can admit I yelled this morning and if I can be honest for a moment, we’ve shifted from yelling when under pressure – to being aware of time and mindful of the other person (people). Its been a huge shift and I love it. Because as soon as I did yell this morning (I tried to “excuse” myself for being over tired…) I instantly felt gross. This isn’t ME. This isn’t how we raise our kids. We are much stronger and conscious. This evening even before we sat down, we set the stage. Both parents being on the same page is mountain mover! We discussed the problem of running late, admitted it wasn’t just a concern for the kids, adults have this issue as well and we are working to be more aware. Ideally I want to be up at least an hour to an hour and a half before the family. Currently I am about 30 minutes. I get my daily greatness journal done and my daily lesson with A Course in Miracles. We talked about the importance of using words when frustrated and not reacting in the moment, a great reminder for kids and adults! Working in customer service can be interesting at times ;) The best part… when the kids got off the bus after school, they were both smiling and laughing! Regardless of the rushed start to the day – I made sure to pour love into them as they leaved – I love you every morning and night – and it over flowed into their day.

The next best part, we had the best family discussion. Real life, calm, happy, productive, open to learning. I am so thankful for Aletha from New Growth Family Centre for her assistance in supportive problem solving – not just for kids but for us too. Yup its very much common sense – but even bigger than that is rising above everything and everyone and following your own heart and soul. Especially the little hearts and souls that you created and live in your home <3

What helped me today – because normally knowing the kids left for school that way, I would stress about them and worry how their day would be. But today, instead of living in fear, I lived in love. I listened to a few of Rebecca Eanes interviews on You Tube while getting work done and it was awesome to hear her gems of knowledge of being a more positive and present parent. I am stoked to be on her launch team for her newest book – The Gift of a Happy Mother! I am stoked to get reading that this weekend!!! Until then… I am settling into my own new bedtime routine so its almost time for bed, to journal, read, meditate then sleep! Im over 2/3 the way through Rachel Hollis’ newest book I was so lucky to get an advance readers copy as a part of her book launch team! Girl, Stop Apologizing — OMG So good!!! Why!? Because every single chapter, you can relate to YOUR OWN life! And not in a, well Rachel did this or that or did it this way so I need to… No! In a — wow interesting… I could apply this approach to _______ in my life! Or Holy sh*t that is SO totally true… haha Im normal! ;) Its being released March 5th!!! I highly recommend it!

If you are curious about the oils below are the benefits of Turmeric, Petitgrain and Serenity, check out their goodness especially if you need assistance with sleep! I so so so love how these oils have blessed our lives!!!

The Turmeric Oil is supportive for supporting healthy glucose and lipid metabolism. Its an oil you have to get used to the taste of, however once you do, well I now crave it in my green tea in the morning!!!

Petitgrain is an interesting oil. To me it smells like a fresh, citrus, smokey blend. In my opinion its a very powerful oil for our family. We began using this oil at night as its known as “the man’s lavender”, its very similar to all the positive relaxing benefits of lavender! Lavender can be tricky to use at bedtime in our home. We have experienced when we use Lavender at night our brains tend to be more active vs restful so we use Lavender during the day and more grounding oils in the evening!

Ive used it in our diffusers for bedtime and have an awesome roller blend we used on the cruise. One that works amazing is Cedarwood, On Guard and Petitgrain – 2 drops each. Start it in the diffuser at least and hour before bedtime. SO good!!! Our kids have slept so much better since using this blend! Tonight in our main diffuser is Petitgrain and Serenity! I really like it :)

Serenity is one we have loved on for a while now. Its been a bedtime staple. However I found there were times we needed a bit more. I especially love it more that they have added more wood oils to the blend. Its less floral and more grounding, which I love!

Grateful Mom | Raising Them Right

🤩 Mom Brag! 😍

Every day I am reminded how awesome these kids are!

This morning we bowled with Big Brothers and Sisters Bowl for Kids!

After bowling we did groceries and when we brought the food in, hubby said to Carson about helping put the groceries away. Not only did he put all the groceries away, he also re-organized the pantry and spice cupboard!

While grocery shopping Maddy loaded up on apples to make a big batch of apple crisp for the family for dessert. This evening she also helped Jaz make home made pizza dough for one of our Sunday appetizers!

Our kids are so much alike but also their own unique selves. I totally appreciated my boy’s help in putting all the groceries away and organizing the cupboards – truly makes my heart happy when things are organized! My girl, well she know’s the way to our heart through our stomachs lol! We am blessed she has the love of baking that her grama has and has learned from the best! The other night she even made us a mini apple crisp split between us out of 1 apple! She loves to bake and I am more like Carson, wanting things to be in order. Baking is messy. Especially with flour 🤣 but I’ve learned to let that go. Rather than say no you can’t bake, explain why I was feeling frustrated. Coming home to a messy kitchen. She 100% got it. The next time she had everything tidy and all dirty dishes together!

The best part though, something we both grew up with… many hands make light work! It’s so true! After Cars put the groceries away Mads emptied the dishwasher so I could load it and then later made her apple crisp creation! Team work as a family is so key! Feeling very grateful on this stormy Sunday evening! Big thanks to our amazing kiddos! 😘

Our mixed up menu tonight consisted of a variety of appetizers using up things in our fridge…

We had home made guacamole with green yogurt and avacados. Added outstanding flavour of Lemon, Litsea and Greek spice blend! With home made breaded zucchini sticks! Hubs found a cheese stick and marinara recipe using home made whole wheat pizza dough, some local wings in the Acti-fry and Mads made her famous apple crisp! So yummy and so full 😉

The kids also each both got their own laundry done as well! 🙌 Love empowering our kiddos!

Let’s Go! | That Reno Life

I truly love renovations. I really do. It provides the opportunity to live in a space, figure out how and what you actually need in it and then customize it to suit you! Every single house we’ve lived in, we’ve renovated. Our 2nd one not as intense – much more simple of paint and flooring. Our first and current were massive reno’s – gut down to the studs – kind of reno’s!

But if I can be completely honest… I really only like the before and after. The in between gives me all kinds of anxiety… hello drywall dust – it gets everywhere!!! Its not just the reno and drywall dust though that hit me, its also the fact that everything that was in that room… had to come out and go somewhere else for the time being. Also that it changes our “routine” within the house. I am however, very grateful to my hubby who is my reno god! ;)

Thankfully we are completely able to plastic off all openings to contain as much dust as possible and Ive got my diffuser going to bring some calm and happiness to me ;) I am always so intrigued when I read over the emotional benefits of each of the oils I use.

Amavi, Neroli and Magnolia Ive applied ON me! I just love the way Neroli and Magnolia are so calming to any anxious type feelings. Without even looking in any books these 3 jumped out at me.

Neroli and Magnolia are floral oils, which honestly surprised me as Im not overly fond of floral’s however these two I simply LOVE!

Neroli is the Oil of Shared Purpose and Partnership. I love reading about it in the Essential Oils and Emotions book. It explains this oil as unifying and stabilizing. Also calming, promoting harmony in changing dynamics, acceptance, growth, fidelity, empathy, patience, forgiveness and resilience. This oil also supports unity, cooperation, tolerance, perseverance and kindness encouraging acceptance.

Magnolia is similar to Neroli as it is calming and relaxing and also soothing to anxious feelings. Magnolia flowers have been used to help create a sense of balance within the body.

Amavi was part of the Father’s Day collection and I just love it! “This unique blend is made of the essential oils Buddha Wood, Balsam Fir Wood, Black Pepper Fruit, Hinoki, and Patchouli. Budda Wood oil is currently exclusive to the Amavi blend, and is the only way to experience the unique aroma of Buddha Wood from doTERRA. The grounding aroma of Amavi synergistically works with each individual’s chemistry to create an elevated personal fragrance experience. It works behind the scenes to calm, uplift, and refocus your mind. In part because of the Black Pepper content, Amavi Touch can calm your unwanted nerves or anxious feelings.” (Source doterra.com)

The oils I put in the diffuser are Clary Sage, Clemintine and Peppermint. I literally just looked at my wall shelf and then reached intuitively for oils!

Clary Sage is the Oil of Clarity and Vision. This oil is supportive with changing perceptions and giving courage to see the truth. Clary sage encourages individuals to remain open to new ideas and new perspectives while opening the soul to new possibilities and experiences.

Clemintine is an oil that we do not have available all of the time, however didn’t stop me from using it today in this blend. It has an uplifting scent to the mind and emotions, also supportive to any anxious feelings.

Peppermint is the Oil of a Buoyant Heart by bringing joy and buoyancy to the heart and soul. Invigorating to the body, mind and soul to let go of fear and be happy. Peppermint can assist an individual in staying on the surface of emotional issues. Positive properties are buoyant, optimistic, relieved and strength to face emotional pain.

I am diffusing 3 drops each of Clary Sage and Clemintine with 2 drops of Peppermint. It smells amazing and given these emotional benefits will be very supportive during the destruction today!

The kids and I hung out at the arena for a bit this aft as hubby got started. The less chaos I hear and see the better ;) As I am hearing lots of ripping, cutting… I am SO thankful for these oils helping me stay nice and chill while hubby is doing his thing… I am so excited to see our next vision come to life!

Cheers to Saturday Morning

There is something about allowing yourself TIME! To enjoy a slow morning with zero pressure, plans or to-do! To simply BE in the moment and enjoy.

That has been my weekend mornings lately. It’s been SO nice! Honoring the hard work we do each week and allowing ourselves the time to relax and recharge.

This morning I read Girl Stop Apologizing by @msrachelhollis, did my daily lesson of A Course In Miracles, wrote in my daily greatness journal, watched a couple episodes of Working Moms, enjoyed a green turmeric tea and just got out of the shower, oils on and ready to now start the day with the rest of the world! 🦋

Its taken me a while to get to this point. It also totally helps that the kids are at amazing ages now that I literally do not have to do everything for them 🙌! To allow ME time to do what I need, whatever that might be! I am proud to say I was in bed until 1030am! 😍

Cheers to Saturday! 👌
It can be whatever you want it to be! 🤩 Be proud of you and never shy away from your true self!
