The sun was shining so bright and warm today! Such a gift after the dreary, rainy days we’ve been having.
Tonight, our life is again feeling like its shifting, everyday a little bit more positive and in the right direction.
Hubby checked a few things off his to-do list and it made me think of how lucky I am to have him, how hard he works for our family and how he truly loves putting his personal touch on our home.
It also made me think, actually we are a pretty powerful and awesome duo that our kids have for parents!
Where he excels incredibly well, I also excel in another significant area of our life.
He is very talented with his renovation knowledge, his HVAC and tradesman skills we are blessed to have this opportunity to put even more of a personal touch on our home.
Together as a team, he is wonderful at the hands on creation, building, renovating and repair types of things and I balance that out with my organizational, financial, planning, practical, artistic, photographic and creative knowledge and skills. :D
Tonight we are a few small steps closer to our dream kitchen being complete. Walking into it tonight, felt very different. Lighter, airy and best of all… US!
It truly isn’t about having brand new or perfect, its about making this house OUR home. Putting our own personal touch in every single room (sometimes twice lol) and truly feeling the transition, appreciating our hard work and the value of a dollar.
I am beyond thrilled to be experiencing this and am crazy excited to watch our transformation as we continue to fill this home with our love and personalities.
This evening I asked my son to put in a diffuser blend. He immediately grabbed 3 oils out of the box, then looked at me thinking before he told me which oils they were, giving it away that he ‘loves the smell of the meat oils’. I admit I instantly said ‘No’…When he asked why I could not think of a single reason other than ‘I don’t want the house smelling like the meat spices’… ‘Why Mommy’…
I couldn’t give him a logical answer – so in he put the 3 oils that he chose.
Oregano, Thyme and Cumin
Completely not what you were expecting right, they taste amazing, however the smell as a diffuser blend is a little unconventional ;)
Then it hit me! What are the emotional uses for these oils?
I had remembered back in the fall he was drawn to these oils and we had noticed a shift.
So I read about them.
Thyme – The Oil of Releasing & Forgiving. One of the most powerful cleansers of the emotional body and assists in addressing trapped feelings which have been buried a long time. Reaching deep within the body and soul, searching for unresolved negativity. Thyme brings to the surface old, stagnant feelings. Particularly helpful in treating the toxic emotions of hate, rage, anger and resentment, which cause the heart to close.
Oregano – The Oil of Humility & Non-Attachment. Oregano cuts through the fluff of life and teaches individuals to do the same. It removes blocks, clears negativity and cuts away negative attachments. Oregano is a powerful oil and may even be described as forceful or intense. Helping release rigidly opinions and belief systems. Oregano encourages true spirituality by inviting the soul to live in non-attachment.

Cumin – Cumin is commonly thought to support a person who has gone through some form of abuse. It can help you to clear the emotional and physical pain you may be holding onto, as well as provide an emotional barrier or boundary as you examine, process, and health the trauma. Cumin oil being a digestive oil leads to a clue as to how it supports us, by working with the solar plexus center of the body. It can help you find your inner strength again, even tapping into anger to allow you to defend yourself, push through attacks, and not let your abuser win.
This transition for us has admittedly been much harder on all of us than what we thought, throw in our basement flood and the emotions have been feeling heavy, weighed down and negative. Its easy to fall into the negative side of things – why us, why now, why not a year ago (haha before our renovations), when will we catch a break, why cant we just be done with renos. There is clearly a bigger picture, a twist in our story that if anything is helping us all grow.
Tonight has been one of our most “normal” evenings at home as a family that its been in a very long time. We were still doing things that needed to get done, but I know I feel a new level of peace and relaxation and I even saw it in the kids when I first got home!
