Sunrise of a brand new day | Blizzard 2014

As I was waiting with my kids this morning for the bus, I was taken back by the absolute beauty of this sunrise this morning… after the Blizzard 2014. The sun began shining brightly through the clouds over the tree tops and happily rose bright into the sky.

Mothers hold their hand for a moment and their heart for a lifetime!

A brand new day. A brand new page in this chapter of our life in 2014. Be thankful and cherish your loved ones.

“Dear God, thank you for this beautiful LIFE, my wonderful FAMILY and FRIENDS and each day I get to spend it with them. HAPPINESS and APPRECIATION for everything Ive been blessed with and the STRENGTH and UNDERSTANDING that when things fall apart, to know that they had to for better things to come TOGETHER  to get me where I am meant to be. Life is a journey,FORGIVE me if I do not always know my way and the stumbles I take. Thank you for TRUSTING in me to be the person I am today and giving me the strength to GROW.”

Everyday is a blessing to cherish those in your life ~ Prayers and Positive Thoughts

My life has always had a tie to the terrible disease, Cancer. I will always remember spending holidays with my Granpa Hap, Thanksgiving in Tennesee at the hospital with our family, the photo of my sister at 6 months old in granpas arms, Christmas in their bedroom at home so Granpa could be a part of the fun with is kids. I will never forget those moments.

Fast forward, 2 months before we got married and having to say our final good byes to Jaz’s mom. That was such a hard time. I am so thankful my hubby to be and I were so lucky to both live with my mother in law for 2 of the 3 years I knew her, just truly wish it could have been longer! After her passing I spent as much of my free time with my hubby to be, saying goodbye to his mom and her own battle with Cancer was just a piece of the puzzle at that time. Tough times can bring out the best… and worst of people.

This summer hearing of Jaz’s dads diagnosis, throat cancer. We had all, he and us, been given a second chance, a new beginning and the kids finally had a relationship, wonderful one with their only paternal grandparent. Its been tough of Jaz, very tough, hard on all of us now watching another parent go through Cancer treatments.

Cancer is difficult to accept when an adult is diagnosed…

This week heart breaking news hit (the facebook world) as the family of a childhood friend of mine found out their daughter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

Being a mother myself, my heart goes out to Lindsay, to her husband Jon and both of their families – especially wee Hayden who is just 22 mths old. Follow Hayden’s journey here and of course as many prayers and positive thoughts for this wee sweet girl and her family! I’ve enjoyed “watching” Hayden grow up via the wonderful world of facebook and running into each other the few times in town when Linds and her family has been home.

Cancer is truly beginning to affect us all. We proudly donate to the Cancer Patient Services Store in downtown Mount Forest and I encourage anyone to do so. This store directly helps those within our community needing travel services.

We have also been following the journey of Jaz’s second cousin’s daughter Meera through her journey with a rare form of childhood cancer, on her face, being diagnosed at 23 mths… The only option her family was given was tough, she had to have part of her face, her nose and part of her upper gums removed. We believe in MEERAcles!!! In fact this week she will begin JK!!!

Hearing of another child, such similar age… heart breaking! Meera fought hard and Hayden will too!!! They both have very long lives to live and many more smiles to give.

Please offer your prayers and positive thoughts as Hayden and her family begin this journey.

How to prevent water pipes from freezing and breaking!

-Ensure you have a source of heat in the location where pipes are located.

-If your pipes are located in a crawl space without heat ensure they are properly insulated.

-Have a small heater to use in an emergency if you need to thaw lines.

-Leave your cupboard doors open if your pipes are located on an outside wall.

-Check your pipes during very cold weather. If the pipes freeze, thaw, freeze, thaw they could cause a breakage such as the one in the photos where the pipe was literally broke apart.

-Ensure that you have water shut off valves (such as the one with the blue handle) so that IF you did have a leak or breakage you would not have to shut off all your water to your entire home.

-If you know you are going to be away for an extended period of time OR are without…
